Spoke to BrenTuning today. Actually pretty amazed at this guy. Straight to the answers on the questions I had, no bs. I asked him if he could tune my auto 11' MCS, he said yes and that he could do them but doesn't advertise it a lot on forums or other things. But one of his buddies has a R53 or R56, I forgot which one, but he spoke well on knowing his MINI stuff. I believe his name is Brandon, give him a call.

He said on my auto he could get out 210hp/260tq. I asked him if he had to move the power up in higher RPM's but he said no. His price was $695 plus shipping the ECU. He said he'll send me dyno's of the MINI's he did but they're six speeds, so expect more power output than the numbers he gave me for the automatics.

I'm confused to why you asked if anyone has the dyno but you just did a dyno on your car? And then your doing another run?

Either way, post it up when you get it done.

For those who are worried about being limited on your tune for the automatics, you will have to take a good hard look into BrenTuning, Smokey's Dyno, and ETG. Those are the only three that won't limit the power being put down. I think I would let BrenTuning and Smokey's dyno touch my ECU if I wanted more power. I'm curious to know what others thoughts are on what questions you guys may have about any of those tunes?

what kind of intake did you run? Cone filter or oil/dry panel filter? What year is your MINI?

intake was alta oiled cone style. ive been told since that open air filters dont make much sense because engine bay is like an oven. makes sense i guess. since switched to a ddmworks race intake. car is a 2012

Okay that's cool. He didn't tell you to stay with the stock air box and a panel filter? I mean regardless, how do you like the tune so far?

he actually did recommend stk box because of heat. i was thinking the ddm would kind of solve the same problem. what are your thoughts on that? after dyno tomorrow i should know air/fuel. other than that the tune feels strong. pulls much harder. makes 2-3lbs more boost.

I'd recommend the RIS and DoS intakes. Other than that you seem solid man. Let us know and post those dynos tomorrow. If its as good as it shows on paper, I will go straight to Smokey's dyno if not, BrenTuning takes my money. I don't want power to be put down for my auto til 4krpms. But seems legit, everyone says the same thing with the ETG tune, it's consistent.

I guess these experts of the MINI know nothing of DoS. As I said above after reading DRT NaSTY's experience... I wouldn't even let them pump my gas.

Gotta give it up to Rob though, at least he's trying to find alternatives for tuning these n18s.

True... A huge for Rob! I'm just glad to be one of the lucky ones whose stars came into alignment at the right time.

thanks guys, I will keep on trying.

But honestly, I think I like Smokey's and BrenTuning. Yes it's a little more than I wanted to spend on the tune from BrenTuning, but $695+, for 210hp/260tq, I can't describe what an automatic N18 MCS owner would feel about that. Of course I'd have to dyno but oh well. Somebody has to take the plunge on some other tuner besides NM engineering.

Smokey's is also in the picture because they dyno the car before and after, plus with results so I can show you guys. I hope someone else is considering these guys or found other options. I just think with today's technology, the automatics should be able to produce more than 25-30hp and 30-35tq..NM and RennTech says they are having issues with surging, but Smokey's, ETG, and BrenTuning have no issues with surging, just kinda makes me wonder too much.

I guess only one way to find out eventually in the next month or two
