Drivetrain The Always Up-to-Date Thread on Tuning 2011+ (N18) MINIs

Being a piggy back I assume it will work on a Euro spec car(I'm in Australia), mines a 2008 MCSa and I'm close to getting the Evolve tune. Seeing as I have w/m & dp I'm guessing Evolves stage 2 would suite me better it's just the price comparison that's got me thinking maybe I should hold off and wait for this instead.

Borrowed an N14 for a bit and was able to get the CAN Tool programmed for it. I also poked around at the tuning and the sensors / DME logic is very different than the N18 so at least for now we won't commit to doing any tuning for them. Realistically the Cobb AP is the best tuning solution for N14 owners currently. I'm not sure why Alta has a strangle hold on the tuning interface but hopefully Cobb releases it to other tuners. I'd be happy to help make you guys a rocking AP map if they'd release the editor software to us.

idk but reading this post made me laugh. a few pages back they say it will be released in a month or two. They are wrapping up "beta" testing right now with local clients.

I don't. So far I've got around 5 local early adopters and I want to get that up to at least 10 so I can get a comfort level that any bugs are worked out, etc, before we start shipping across the country. So if anyone knows anyone with an N18 interested in tuning in the socal area (close to 93065) drop me an email.

Quick one for you Terry. I know you are shooting for reliability with the JB+ which is the reason you are going for moderate gains and about 16-17psi. that is basically perfect for what i'm looking for. But on the flip side. 200whp 220wtq is my goal. that's what i want to hit. I know the tune alone isn't going to get me there, but do you believe with this tune and the appropriate bolt on's that those numbers are achievable on your tune?

I'm going to say that that'll be easily attainable.
If you look at Terry's dyno graph and observe the deltas...it was 20whp/ 38ish wtq.
Now this is where I might get flamed, but take it as an example....
A few pages back, a guy posted his baseline run as 172whp/184wtq....not sure if he was bone stock or what octane he was using, but that was his run.
If you grab his numbers and throw on the JB+ along with 93 octane gas, it would bring him up to 192whp / 222wtq. Possibly even slightly higher if he used 91 for the baseline, then switched to 93.....
(Now there a far more variables than what I have shown, which will obviously change up the numbers).....but you get the basic idea.
This works...unlike Unichip, Racechip, and a bunch of other pos chips out there.

I did not know overboost only affected torque. learn something new everyday

Terry, just wondering if you could work the 'sport' button into the tune at some stage? For example, with sport off: 15-20hp/25-30tq gain, with sport on: full power (based on mods, more advanced tune).
And are you able to control the heavier steering and/or auto trans shift points that the sport button affects by default? It'd be nice to be able to customize those features.
