But Access Ports do have support, you'll just have to pay for that support, if you buy a
used one.

Also a tuner with a Cobb Access Tuner can alway build you a custom tune.

If I had an N14, I definitely would buy an AP for $650 used. Custom maps are always nice!

Yeah, the future

Terry has been very non-committal on dates (for good reason), and I've yet to see him answer this question (it gets posted on almost every page).

the good reason is that he wants to make sure that when the JB+ comes to market, that it is operating perfectly. it does him no good to release something that hasn't been thoroughly tested, and get back 50 JB+'s that he'll then have to redo. we also have to realize that he has no interest in delaying the release if the JB+ is in fact ready, as he might lose some potential buyers.

Yep, agree 100%. I'd rather a polished product than us all be beta testers having issues.

Has there been issues with beta testers?

There are always issues with beta testing. That's the whole point.

Did some digging and got some final resolution on what went down with the Accessport, which really was a good product. I will post my e-mails with Cobb support below. It seems that the reason we don't have Access Tuner Race for the Mini is because ALTA declined it.

Emails below...

Last year you discontinued support for the Mini Cooper accesport. Recently
several tuners including Burger and Vishnu have taken a renued interest in
our platform. Would it be possible for Cobb to adapt the new Accesport V3
to support the Mini cooper platform?

Chris,

As much as I would like to say we would support the Mini line of vehicles again, in all honesty, there really is no chance of COBB supporting these again. The cost of support was just too great. Sorry for the bad news and If there is anything else I can assist you with, please let me know.

Thank you,
Tim

Thanks for the response. Is there a reason that Access Tuner Race was never
released for the Mini platform? It seems that this would have been a nice
parting gift for a community with so few tuning options.

Chris,

The Mini Accessport and software was actually a joint venture with Alta Performance and it was up to them as far as what year and model of vehicles they wanted to support as well as what maps were going to be offered and if or not Accesstuner Race was going to be available. However, in order to keep the Mini Accessport pricing as low as possible, it was decided not to offer the Accesstuner Race software for them. You may also want to contact Madness Motorworks as they tune Mini's as well. Have a nice day and if there is anything else I can assist you with, please let me know.

Thank you,
Tim

I'm going to say easily 1000miles lol.

I work in LA and use to commute 50miles one way!

Since then I've moved and it's shrank to about 13miles one way....but I'm certainly putting it through it's paces.

100+ degree weather where I use to live, no holding back lol.

precisely why I used the word "projected" instead of expected. I know beta testing needs to take place but there has to be some sort of timeline if things go well.

the reason I ask is because I have had some sour car forum experiences involving new mod developments. waiting a year + for a shift kit mod for my subaru to come out that was hyped up and "in testing" (for a year), waited another 6 months, ended up selling the car by then. that particular mod was make or break for me, the jb+ not so much. just curious if it was going to be a repeat of what I just put up with with my previous car

I hear you. I've been waiting nearly 2 years for the DoS intake to come out for the countryman, ended up getting a different intake in the mean time. The DoS is finally here and the first batch is supposed to go out today.

I had pretty much decided on the NM tune back in May, then there was some news on what turned out to be racechip, then Burger, then that open source tuning thing someone posted a page or two back. At some point I'm going to have to pull the trigger and stop waiting, but it feels like there's always a new development around the corner.

JB+ testing is going well. Made another batch of 15. I reached out to a handful of non-local but USA based BETA testers. Once I know how many of them are interested I'll throw up a post here with how many are left.

What we're doing for testers at this point is giving them a free CAN Tool. So they just pay $299 for the tune and $7 for domestic shipping.

Any CMS's yet Terry? It won't be long until they outsell the hardtop.

NM, I have my answer and possibly something exciting news soon.

Not sure if your looking for anyone on the east coast. I'm in Pittsburgh and put on approx. 200 miles per week in my 2012 CM ALL4S. I'd gladly pay for one of the Beta units.

I am also in the Burgh, MINI Family of a GP, EB R53 and a R58 S, I have had many tunes including the AP and RMW for the GP. I am interested in testing at this price as well, let me know.
