Deletion of 2nd cat and Resonator 2012 Cooper S

Howdy folks!

Here is a video of my car after deleting both the resonator and the second cat. It is still emissions legal, so no crying about me killing the environment.... I can definitely say that with all the new sound deadening in the newer cars, there is zero drone inside the car. At idle, it sounds like a factory JCW, but when you open it up, it is a bit loud, but only outside of the car. Inside, things are serene. I had a buddy and mine do a few drive bys, and goodness, it sounds fantastic. I am hoping to get some fly by and interior videos soon. But, in the meantime, enjoy!!

(Use headphones...)

Nice, sounds better in person I bet. Now put a straight through muffler on there. That will wake the neighbors lol.

Oh yea. Lol. A catless downpipe would do the same thing...

Sounds good! Can you give some more details on what exactly you did? and what all is involved?

Thanks.

It was rather simple. I cut out the section of exhaust that included the resonator and second cat, then welded in a 2.5 section of pipe to replace it. The newer cars have a larger diameter pipe than the older ones. I found this out quickly. Haha. On my old car, the pipe size was around 2.16", so I figured the new ones would be the same. When I went to replace the pipe with 2.5" (which is what I did on my old one..), the pipes were the same size. SO, the new cars have 2.5" exhaust piping...
