Siezed engine?

I have a 2007 Mini S. Plenty of oil in the pan. Stopped the car. No suggestion of problem. One hour later the car won't start. Won't churn over and the starter starts to heat up. The dip stick won't come out. Only comes up about 4" then stops. Timing chain had a lot of clatter!

Uh Oh. Have a shop check it out. Hopefully the chain guides did not explode inside.

From the other thread you have...sounds like if it had lots if clatter, it was broke, and getting out of time....the fact the dipstick is stuck ....not good. Not churning (making butter), or turning over, but rather having the startr motor getting hot trying to turn a stuck, possible siezed rotating mass...not good.

Damn that sucks. Hopefully it isn't anything serious. You might want to start looking for a long block just encase.

from my experience, the timing chain snapped. had the same exact symptoms. take the valve cover off and see if the chain is there. if not then you need a head rebuild, timing chain and components replacement. Or a new/refurb engine if you have the funds.

pain in the buttocks...

Not if the dip stick is stuck... likely a chain/guide issue imo.

I have a disassembled long block if you need one cheap. Needs bearings and rings.

siezed

Thanks for the input. Just letting it sit for a while. I'll post when I open it up. May have interest in the long block for build.
