Drone likelihood on Alta 3" Downpipes with JCW exhaust on an automatic

Hi all,

Thinking of getting the high-flow catted Alta 3" downpipe. Already have a JCW catback. Drone is slightly present in 6th on cruising speed unless accelerator slightly pressed (so <1,500 rpm I'd say).

Anyone tried DPs with autos - will the drone get REALLY bad?

High the chances are high. You might want to consider putting a bigger resonator on your exhaust to help reduce the drone.

Ugh. That's what I was concerned with. don't really want to cut into the JCW exhaust... maybe I should forget it - it's not like having the extra 20hp and going to stage 2 will help the torque steer :P

Meh, torque steer is not as big of a deal that everyone says it is. Also just get another exhaust and a catless DP and run stage 3. But seriously data log it and have them fix the issues with stage 3.

Prob is it's the wife's car and I'm not even tracking it as much as I used to (I have another car to flog around for that). So I should probably not get into this methinks.

I wish I was able to get the 2TA option that was briefly offered on MCSs... the LSD that the JCW has.

No... sorry for the confusion. I have a regular S with an OEM JCW exhaust. Also, for a short window (~6 months) in 2008, which was just before I got my 2009 MCSa, there was an option, 2TA, that was an mechanical LSD (which, amusingly, was NOT offered on the JCW until later - when they canned it on the MCS).

If you want a downpipe get the Akrapovic downpipe, it fits a 100 times better than the alta, and it will bolt directly to your current exhaust. with the 3inch outlet on the alta you will have to make an adapter and do cutting and welding to install it.
also 3inch is too large for your car, 2.5inch is more than enough for the stock turbo.
