Clarify: Pressurized intake vs. non-pressurized

I know the difference that one utilized the hood scoop and others like alta and DDM street intake are just a cone in the engine bay. But how does pressurizing the air before the turbo which is going to deliver a set psi regardless. How to pressurized intakes weild a hp gain and alta or DDM street intake do not. thank you in advance

I believe the intake is pressurized after the air gets to the turbos inlet, then it's pressurized all the way to the cylinders. Sorry if that's not what you meant.

Do you have any evidence of pressurized intakes making more power than a non-pressurized intake? Technically it doesn't make a difference whether they're pressurized or not. However the cone filters tend to pull in hot air from the engine bay which is not the best source of air.

The whole point of an intake like the DDMWorks RIS is to take in cold air from outside the hood. Pressurizing does nothing when boost pressure is regulated by the ECU controlled wastegate anyways. The DoS intake does the same thing, but from the cowl.

I personally have no data. I've just been told and read searching on here that you will get zero gains from an alta type intake and will get small gains with the funnel style intakes.

Can someone also clarify that this intake http://www.waymotorworks.com/aem-col...-cooper-s.html will fit on the n18 with adding a few screw holes to the intake box?

There isn't much to be had with a funnel intake either! At least you get some but don't expect a miracle. There are much better things to buy for $400 for your MINI.
