I figure the car just...won't knock and the ecu will be able to run the timing that's predefined without having to pull any.

I'm not entirely familiar with BMW DME's and it's timing advance logic, one would think if you put a theoretical 200 octane in a stock car that it won't run 20* at full load just because it doesn't knock..lol
It has an "advance limiter", of course. But stock tuning on pump gas runs well below the upper limit. There is a short term "knock" adaption and a long term "octane" adaption.

PS. I'm not sure how many are left in the batch if any. Eric & Edwin and busy processing the morning orders and I'll go take an inventory once they are caught up to see where we are at.

Darn, I wish someone would offer a seminar/workshop on the theory of operation, etc. of today's systems.

nice, thanks. sucks to know it's not even running optimal timing on 93.

To the contrary it's always running "optimal" timing for the conditions. Just not "maximum" timing.

Terry, I would buy the can tool in a second if you could hijack the stupid OEM Openometer and compensate for the piggyback. Any plans to do that?

a few quick questions Terry. If the jb+ is so close to the threshold that the n18 can safely run, What's different between this and the stage 1? how much more of a gain are we going to see over a JB+ when it seems that this is at the pinnacle of performance safely. Also the dyno posted on your website looks to be crank horsepower. Is that bone stock with only the JB+ set at 50%?

193whp seems a lot stock. Is that maybe with jb+ on a stock car and then the other runs are with supporting mods that's a pretty big jump in torque... who knows.

Dynos are weird and unreliable sometimes, what a person should REALLY take into consideration is the difference in power/torque not an estimation that a dyno gives you. They are good for seeing a baseline and testing whatever you did to see if it worked and what the difference was.

Don't look at the numbers guys....look at the deltas from the baseline and then the JB+ added.

Those are the gains. The numbers are inflated, so take it with a grain of salt. Also keep in mind it was using 93 octane.

Damn, I was waiting on buying one then this stupid government shut down happened. I have to save all my pennies since I am a 100% disabled veteran and my medical payments will stop on 11/1 if those fools dont get a grip.

Anyone have specific instructions on how to install the JB+? I don't want to mess anything up, I know there's instructions here and there in this thread but what is the exact procedure? Thanks!

Yeah pretty lame how you, who has done your job and earned it, don't get paid because the boneheads in congress can't figure out how much of the money we don't have they can spend.

pop the hood latch, lock your doors (to put the ecu to sleep), go back in 15 mins. pull the connector off the MAF, connect the male side of JB+ to female side of MAF connector, and the female side of JB+ to male side of connector. close your hood, fire the car up, drive the car a bit, enjoy!
if you ever need to remove the JB+, make sure you use the same procedures, otherwise it might trigger a CEL.

Everything is a bell curve, just cause you wont knock advancing timing more doesnt mean you'll get more power.

Ya, the top of that bell curve is called MBT... It's very likely that there would be 10-15 degrees more total timing that could be added with either meth or E85. Around 30-40 more hp, that's what a E85 map would look like. Would also like to see boost to come in earlier and harder around 3k rpm. Problem is we would most likely lose transmissions and or half shafts.
