Does this mean we are closer to the JB+ being "official" for JCW/GP cars?

Hey Terry,
My GP2 is running great!! I love the CAN BUS and I have added an NM intake and a 30% mix of E85 with my 91. I moved the JB+ dial to 60% and I'm hitting 20psi and plenty of timmimg. I'm liking the GP2 more and more, it was very strange coming from a 700hp CTS-V Coupe. I have my eye on an intercooler and DP.
I'm looking forward to more JB products.

What are most of you guys running on your car? I see people move it to 60%+ higher. I guess my question would be, what's the safest cut off so I don't pass 18psi. I'm seeing my max at 16.5psi at the standard setting since I got mine.

Not sure on percentage but I have the pot set to the 3 o'clock position. 19psi under heavy load situations, which isn't too often unless it's created.

Sorta funny, these cars tend to taper off boost in the mid range but mine keeps upping boost.

Hitting 17.5 to 18psi normally which is perfect for an S.

Running some E85. I've done a few pulls with the meth on and off and I gotta say, the methanol kit feels like freakin nitrous. It's a very noticeable difference.

Next tank I will probably go back to just 91 w/meth after I move the jet downstream of the TMAP sensor. Should make even more difference since the car will be able to actually read the temperature drop

I'm about 2oclock and I peak at 19-20psi in a third gear pull. I'm curious do you have a JCW turbo? I'm curious because your boost seems high for a normal S (37mm turbo), how is your timing? My GP2 has a 40mm turbo and I'm also using some E85. What other motor mods do you have?
Thank you
Mario

I wouldn't really say unusually high. I'm at the 3'oclock position while you're at 2 and easily boosting more than me due to your slightly lower CR and slightly larger turbo. I'm running meth, FMIC and catless DP. All the basic stuff most folks run. Not much diversity among these cars.

I have timing set on the fuel gauge and it's easily maxing out, so that is 10 degrees. I'll have to move it over to the speedo to see where it peaks at the top of a gear.

I think the GP2 has the same CR as the S. the JCW is lower CR.

Great news for us GP2 folks. Looks like I'll be placing my order sooner than I thought.

Whoa! I hope your math IS right too! Hopefully, a JCW will have similar effects as a GP with the JB+.

I know it's a gross oversimplification of things, but if that's the case would it be even "safer" to run the JB+ on a JCW?

Terry did say before that's a good thing so I'd guess yes everything else being equal. Running meth, who knows!

No, because the JCW has a bigger turbo cramming more air in the cylinders. The compression is .5 lower but the higher boost more than makes up for this.

Is the JCW turbo the same as the GP2 turbo?

Can you explain more? I have been trying to research the size of the different turbos
Normal Mini S 10.5 CR a 37mm turbo
JCW 10.1 CR 40mm turbo
GP2 10.5 CR 40mm turbo

Can someone verify, if I'm even close?
Thanks
Mario

That is incorrect. The GP has the same turbo as a N18 JCW

Part number 11657649496. Same part number as all JCW's. Different to the Cooper S.

I have a GPII and a JCW btw, and it is definitely the same. If you order the part through BMW using the VIN it is the same part.

In fact all engine and drivetrain parts numbers on the GP are the same as the JCW. The GP and JCW have different pistons and rings, which are the only engine parts that are different to the Cooper S.

The major difference on the GP is in the ecu programming. The boost programming and profile is different, heat management is different etc. Both max out at 21psi boost on the racetrack in stock form.

Don't forget the GP is a JCW.

So I have gone through about 3 tanks if gas since adding the jb+..... And I am happy to report that my post jb+ mpg numbers are almost identical to my pre jb+ numbers.

I am averaging about 32mpg split..... With ~65% of my driving being highway. I am running oem roof racks And I drive like I stole it 90% of the time, so 32 seems more than reasonable to me.

Mini is still at 50% and I finally got a full tank of 93 octane this weekend. I took it on a long trip in the mountains with the CAN hooked up and I regularly hit 16PSI in 3rd gear, but 6th gear pulls up hills seemed to peak at about 12.3. I guess that's the computer limiting things for some reason. I'm encouraged by the pioneers that are going to 6 or 7 on the dial. My car is not under warranty with 46k miles so I'm being very cautious, although I'm tempted.

You have a 2012 and 46k miles why do you not have a warranty? It's 4yr 50k mile.

Anyone got 0-60 and/or quarter mile numbers for the JB+ on a Clubman S? I havent had a chance to, just wanted to see what others have seen.
