Yikes....

I wish more people would get these JB cars on a dyno and datalog them

Are you mixing any e85?
That'll lean you out.

As a noob to this JB+ and using 91octane, what should my AFR be? I have a MCS Clubman with just the JB+ and DDM Intake. Low 12s at WOT? I use Torque app and PLX BT module to read OBD2. Thanks.

If on pump gas the AFR is going to run whatever MINI mapped for those conditions from the factory. Which is anywhere from 12:1 to 13:1 up top depending on the actual boost levels hit. Like measuring boost you'll want to check AFR at the tail end of a long 3rd or 4th gear pull where boost is fully up to target. In my experience with this platform AFR really only becomes a factor if mixing in E85 where you may max out the fuel trims and start to crawl up to the mid 13s.

Thanks for that info. A little bit of relief. I was worrying for a bit. Im going to hook up my INNOVA Scan tool and do a couple pulls to see what the true trims are showing. The Hijack tool is fun but sometimes hard to read accurately.

Also, Terry; is there a reason why my Hijacked speedo shows AFR as 0-50MPH with the speedo topping just @ 47MPH when showing Stoich AFR. The instructions on your site stated it should be reading at 147MPH. Just curious.

I am really impressed!

I ordered my JB+ and CAN on Sunday and it showed up today (3 Days).
I have a brand new 2013 Cooper S hard top 6 speed auto with 500 miles on it.
I installed a AEN ram cold air intake and a Borla cat back exhaust last week and I was very pleased with the little extra HPS and the sound is exactly the way I wanted it. Nice but not annoying at long highway trips.
I did some standing 0-100mph times before installing the JB+ with the intake and exhaust. I did this test with the car in auto shifting WOT and I have 91octane fuel, it was about 50degrees out tonight and here are the times.
0-100 in normal driving mode 17.07 secs
0-100 in sport mode 16.12 secs
After installing the JB+
0-100 in normal mode 16.36 secs
0-100 in sport mode 14.83 secs
I'm going to finish putting in the Craven boost and temp gauges tomorrow and hooking up the CAN.
I'm very happy with the results!!
Thank you BMS

Here's a graph for a 4th gear pull tonight, outside temps were in the 40's.

Well here is how it went: plugged in Innova scan tool only to realize that it does not provide AFR feedback... LOL... Oh well, so in plugs in my Scangauge. WOT topping out in 3rd gear read 11.4
I'm skeptical of the accuracy of Scangauge so I reverted back to to NAM high-jack tool. It will only go as low as 13.4ish... What gives, which one should I trust. Anyone else measuring AFR w/Scangauge?

What are you using to pull that type of graph? I need this...

The app (iPhone and Android) is DashCommand and the windows program is ScanXL all available from Palmer Performance. It's pretty cool stuff.

There's another thread here with info on it.

Here's the link: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...og-graphs.html

I'm still poking around at options for unlocking more power with a much harder to install tune. But nothing to report yet. Once we have something solid I'll share the info here.

Sounds good to me! I just hope that anti-lag is an option!!!! I know a stronger turbo manifold will be a highly recommend option for that haha but let's hope for the best on everything from your end as well as other companies to continue making better and better parts for our lovely minis!!!

I have used thes scan guage for AFR. The readings correspond pretty well with what I see with a tailpipe wideband AFR on the dyno or track.

I know there are a ton of threads on this, but what x code are you guys using for AFR on your scangauge? It's what I have on my 2013 s, but it doesn't have afr setup.

Mine came with AFR programmed from scan guage. I had to put in codes to get some others (eg boost) but AFR was there out of the box

Thanks. Yeah mine is new ish and came with boost and all that, just no afr. According to linear logics site, you have to send it in to get afr and other things. I'll start messing with it to see if I can use a generic code.

103mph?

You can also log ambient temperature.

I'm bumping the setting to 6 (1 o'clock) on the dial. I'm running 93 octane (shell or BP) with up to 10% ethanol.

When the dial is turned up is there an adjustment period, I'm assuming that there is.

I'll closely monitor timing and AFR but have a few questions,

1.) If AFR starts to get unfavorable will bigger injectors help the problem. Or will tune be needed for this?

2.) Am I correct in saying that with the lower ambient temps now that winter is coming boost will peak lower than it did in high temp weather so knock is less likely?

3.) Do MINI's have the capability to monitor knock directly via the OBD2 port or with any method for that matter? I've seen it done on other cars, i.e. the corvette.

4.) Can you hear knock or only when it gets really bad?

5.) Lastly, is it correct to say that I really only have to worry about knock, AFR and timing during WOT?

I've noticed that since it got cold here in TN, my boost has dropped back down to 12 or so. It's been in the 40s here. I read somewhere that the ECU regulates boost even more when it's below 56 degrees. Don't know how accurate this number is, but I definitely don't see 16psi any more. I might take off the JB+ today and see what readings I get.

Edit: I took off the JB+ today, it's 36 degrees, and I only got 9-10psi, with the JB+ I got 12-13psi.

What are the uses of the CAN tool for those people with MINI Connected? Need to know if I should get that or a Scanguage 2 instead.

Sent from my iPhone using NAMotoring

Many thanks to Snaponit for a post with specific data. Researching the forum for information on the actual performance of products touted to increase the performance of your MINI finds comments like: "added to my MINI and it sounds great," "have one on order, can't wait," "feels like it is faster." With many members of this forum running their MINIs on dynos, and a large number having data loggers of different varieties, there should be empirical data to document actual performance gains (or, maybe no gains). If a you have actually measured the difference in performance made by a bolt-on modification, please share it with the membership. Having actual data will help the membership make educated decisions, rather than emotionally throwing money at fancy marketing.
