So I'm running roughly 27% e85 right now with the jb+ at the 3 o clock position(80% correct?). I've done 3 pulls and seen no drop in timing. Anyone else running close to this? She pulls like a beast.

EDIT: has anyone dyno'd the jb+ past 50% on a non JCW mini? i know a few people have on their JCW and GP2 but haven't seen any for just a regular S.

JB+ Performance on Stock S

Horizon Blue, I have also been asking for measureable data on various mods that have been purported to actually increase preformance. Will set an example by providing some measurements on the JB+.

My car is stock, 27,500 miles, running on Sunoco 93. Have had the JB+, factory setting, on one day for a drive about 200 miles. Maximum boost before - 12.3 psi. Maximum boost after - 15.6 psi. That is a 27% increase in boost pressure.

Have dyno time scheduled on February 8. Will test with and without JB+ and report back.

A seat-of-the-pants evaluation/measure: When traveling a 2 lane road in 6th gear at 45-50 mph and finding the need to pass another car quickly, I no longer feel a need to downshift. Just push on the right-side pedal and the car accelerates around the slower vehicle in a very few seconds.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on this thread, adding to my education. And, in particular to MarioKart, who has provided great data on the performance improvements he has experienced.

So I turned the JB+ up to 90% with 70/30 91/E85 and no other mods on the ALL4. 3rd gear under full load ends with timing at 7.5. It does spend some time at and below 0 but as it builds to the top of the gear timing advances. I think I am going to leave it here as with it being 54 degrees out I was holding 19PSI and seeing peaks right below 21. I may even turn it down to 80% just to be safe.

To the guys that are seeing higher boost, do you have the stock intercooler? What are your intake temps?

After I turned it up I was seeing intake temps roughly 15-20 degrees above ambient on the tests during my lunch break. I'll be watching it very closely over the next couple days to ensure that timing today wasnt just luck so i'll report back later this week what intake temp vs ambient is.

Why does timing of 7.5 under full load on a pull from 3rd to 4th seem really high with the JB at 90%? Despite the e85.

I'm running the JB+ at 80% and today had ambient temps of 52F and boost was peaking just above 14.5psi. I do have a forge intercooler. Mind you I'm not complaining. The car feels beastly.

Have you ever seen boost in the 19-21 range?

Hell no. I just recently turned up the dial about 2 weeks ago and the most that I have seen with the JB+ at 80% is in the 15-16psi range but it has been cold here lately. Previously in the summer time heat with the JB+ at 50% i would hit 16psi absolute max.

I hit at WOT 15.2psi and I have it turned up to 70%. I did a 70/30 with 93 and E85. Also, it was -4 to 3 degrees last night.

I'd be hard pressed to believe that 20-21psi on these turbos are efficient. Sounds like it'll cook like a turkey, especially at 7.5* of timing on full boost, high rpm . would be nice to know what kind of EGT's are coming out of that header.

There's a compressor map in the FrankenTurbo website:

I saw 16.85 on the stock setting of 12 o'clock back in the summer on 93. I have stopped paying sole attention to boost.

In the summer I saw the same but since temps went super cold, boost went down just a little.

Starting tomorrow il have a means of measuring and data logging things for my cooper S. My obd reader will be in and il be using dash command on my iPad.
So here's my question in particular about timing which I know absolutely nothing about.....
I have a few mods on my car, Alta CAI, hot side tube, and Magnaflow catback, I filled up with 10 gal of 91 and 2ish of E85 last time which will allow me to turn up the JB+ slowly to 100%. (Correct) I keep hearing to keep a eye on timing so I just need to know what exactly to look for?
Thanks in advance guys!

I don't know if I would be running it at 100%. The highest I have gone with a mix of E85 and a good amount of mods is 2 o'clock in the dial. Maybe I am conservative.

better safe than sorry. i'm still surprised at how many folks are so ready to turn up the dial, some even before they receive their JB+ in the mail. i'm sure we'll know soon enough how high is too high, altho it's been cool out for most, so boost may not be "maxing" out.

I was driving past Mojave yesterday morning on 58 and was behind a big rig for a few miles until a passing lane came and I dropped two gears and tried passing the rig and then suddenly I had no power. I pulled over, turned the car off and back in and everything was fine. I data logged from then on and I was peaking at 21.6psi. I believe I hit the 22psi limit. The outside temp was 5 degrees Celsius.

Out of interest my GP2 routinely makes 20psi stock. The N18 JCW/GP2 engine stock parameter is max 19psi boost (21psi transiently with overboost function).
