Forum search netted nothing for me and all google found were vague diagrams. Perhaps my search foo is weak but if anyone can explain getting these things off so I can swap plugs if appreciate it. I've popped the metal covers up and flipped them over to remove the electric connection but other than just using brute force and yanking the things straight up I can't see an obvious way to get the the sparkplug. Any help is much appreciated!

Unplug the electric connection then just pull up on the coil. If it won't come just twist and pull a little and it will come out with a pop! Sometimes they seem to be sealed with a bit of a vacuum.

Then you need the proper socket to get the plugs out. Forget the size, but it is not a hex socket like most plugs, it is 12 sided.

Terminal- i have not removed the spark plugs yet but from looking at them I can see how its removed. You lift up the little tab holding the electrical connector in- remove it. That tab has a hole in the center. Stick 8" extension or screw driver into it to give you leverage to pull on it- Make sure you pull straight up- it's got vacuum from the rubber seal. Use a 5/16 spark plug remover to unscrew and pull the spark plug out- is has a rubber grommet inside to hold the plug in. good luck!

Just a drop or two of silicone spray between the boot and the spark plug well. Wiggle the boot back and forth in a circular direction to distribute the lube and they will come out easier. Need to lift up part of the boot and use the silicone spray can with plastic snout attached. When reinstalling, a bit of silicone grease in the wells and on the areas of the boot that come in contact will make it easier next time.

Thanks guys. I'd done my N14 Coupe and figured it was similar but the N18 looked like they had some weird attachment or clip that wansnt on the other engine so I was concerned id break something. It wouldn't surprise me for BMW to so something like that.
