We have another similar car with NM cone set up but have not gotten to dyno that guy yet. We have a dyno shoot out coming up in December so we will have some numbers to compare very soon including the first Owen hybird turbo in the US.

Question: What changes in MPG are you noticing on N18's? I understand this is subjective to driving style so lets say stage 1 on the highway. On my CM ALL4S with a JB+, Megan racing exhaust and KN panel filter at 75mph I can get 30 mpg.

There has been no change at all with my tune ... provided you are driving normally. Obviously, once you are laying into the throttle more, you MPG's will go down.

I'm very curious about the Owen turbo from overseas, that's the turbo upgrade I'm considering

EuroTech, I keep re-reading your post and I'm getting that a round, stock JCW filter will fit in the stock cooperS box? Is that right?

Thanks.

The JCW tuning kit comes with a new air box lid that includes the round filter. Only tuning kit cars have round filters. All others (s or factory jcw) have flat panels filters. The tuning kit air box will have a JCW logo on it and is the only round filter box.

I ordered the Owen Developments turbo yesterday and should have it next week. We will be also adding a 3" turboback exhaust setup on the car. Nick is going to be putting together a stage 3 tune for 91 and race fuel for the car. Should be some interesting results. We will keep you guys posted on the results as we are planning to get some dyno numbers on this one after Jerry at Eurotechs installs the turbo and Nick adjusts the tune a bit.

I'd heard that MANIC was working on a hybrid turbo. Is this what the Owens development turbo you guys are talking about is? Curious what's making you guys look at Owens.

In person and on paper it looks like a winner, but the real world is what counts. Looks to be slightly above $2,000 for snail. I'm interested in the HPFP being able to keep up with out meth. My GP is hitting around 23psi/1.7 Bar and the fuel pump is right at the line. The Owen may produce more HP and TQ with only 19psi. Looking forward to your results! Mario

Have you looked into this HPFP by JMTC? It says it can get you another 20% fuel flow.

Yes the turbo is a little on the pricey side for sure. On the high boost tune we are going to do for race fuel we will see how it goes with the HPFP. The race fuel we are using does not have any ethanol added so it will help us a bit in that area. If it becomes an issue I will probably add an aquamist kit. Here are the specs they sent me on the turbo:

I did talk to them about that pump the other day and they have not completed it yet. Still working some of the bugs out they said

Was interested in Owens but skeptical being because it was over seas. I don't remember the price but it lead me away from it haha. Manic strongly recommends it. I ended up going with the JMTC E45R K04. Hoping to get a dyno for you guys soon. Can't go wrong with Owen. Nick knows the turbo very well.

I got a good deal on the E45R. No one really goes K04 so I was afraid I would get massive lag with the 47mm wheel. Not sure if the exhaust side is the same or bigger. But more people commonly do a hybrid.

Isn´t the E45R a K04? I thought so

It is. But it is the same as the E45HP just with a K04 housing so I was more comfortable doing that because it is a similar turbo. I thought I would be easier for Nick to tune it. Similar turbo just more flow up top.

I just finished getting the car flashed from G3 Automotive Solutions in Raleigh, NC. They set me up with stage 2+. Currently I have it on map A and will be doing tons of logging over the next few weeks. I'm not planning on switching to map B until I get the high flow cat installed, which I'll be ordering here shortly.

I've ordered the recommended spark plugs (NGK 1422) from EurotechAZ which should be here tomorrow. Another group of great guys BTW.

My initial impressions are great. I actually chirped the tires shifting into 2nd gear and this is an automatic transmission mind you. Map A was boosting to 18.2 psi while the stock map was at 12.4 psi. Another thing that I really like is the throttle remap to a more linear response, no more peak boost at 1/4 pedal travel.

For those that are in or near Raleigh, you should really consider this remap. Give the guys at G3 a call they are awesome to work with. Their contact info is on the Manic website.

Congrats, and welcome to the Manic club😁

Don't wait too long on that High Flow cat, Map B and C are on a whole other level.😮

Good times👍

It took about 4 hours, but it was their first time doing it so they took their time to make sure it was done correctly. I just hung out, there was a Ferrari in the showroom to look at.

A question for those that have changed to the colder plugs - (NGK1422 - ILKR8E6).

The original plugs use the special thin wall 14mm 12pt socket which I have BUT the new plugs are the standard 5/8" and the socket is too big to fit down into the well.

I can always lathe it down a bit when I get to work on Monday. But was wondering if there is a special socket that I can buy?
