My HPFP is about 1000 at idle and 1800 in the 4000 rpm range. So it seems that yours may be ok.

I'd suspect a dirty/oily MAF. Try cleaning it.

On map A and B I'll max out my MAF at greater than 23 lb/min once I'm at full boost.

Took the car into the dealer today. I suggested the HPFP and the MAF sensor; my service advisor immediately suspected the former but acknowledged the latter given my Alta foam oiled filter.
Unfortunately the earliest they'll be able to look at the car is Friday.
Regardless, I appreciate all the input you guys have offered and I will keep everyone updated once I hear back from them.

I had some issues a while back. Had my ecu "learned" parameters reset. Runs like a new car now! 2010 R56S JCW Tuning Kit. (Stage 1 Tune is what it's considered) ECUs "learn" and adjust to driving conditions. You may be confusing your ecu with running different fuels/mixes. Just sayin...

The same thing happened to my friend's Miata. But I've been running 93 octane for the past month and the car adjusted just fine to an E30 Ethanol mix a month ago.
The dealer found no faults with the HPFP or MAF sensor, but discovered an exhaust leak (coincidentally started to leak (due to new exhaust clamp) just before I experienced issues), which was found during a smoke test.
Additionally, they're are cracks between the air filter/intake and the turbo, seems to be a common issue with those materials.
I'll get back with more details.

Since you just oiled your filter there might be oil on the MAF. Try cleaning it with the MAF cleaner. I had this happen to me once after cleaning my filter.

I guess I don't understand why AFE dry filters are not used more often? I hate the oiled filters since they make such a mess and can result in MAF sensor problems.

I would clean it, but the dealer said the MAF was fine. Maybe they didn't do a thorough job at checking that, however. Additionally, there are cracks in the intake hose (OEM) right by the turbo inlet. I declined to replace it at the dealer as I thought I could find one from Forge or NM for the N18 engines but I can't. Could that also contribute? I've been also noticing below average fuel economy.

How did you reset the learned parameters? Seems like a possible fix!

If the cracks in the tube are after the MAF, then it's metered air, therefore you would expect the car to throw an "implausibility" error code if it was leaking bad enough for you to notice.

I would order a new tube from ECS Tuning. Should be under $100 for the OEM one (which is the best one).

Since you use a oiled filter, I would also pickup a can of MAF cleaner for $8 and clean the sensor.

I use the AFe dry filter. Why have some stopped using these?

Mini Dealer reset parameters... Trans shifting parameters also.
("Adaptations" is actually the word they used... Not Parameters)

Would this change values that the Manic tune set back to default?

No they're totally different procedures. I've reset adaptations with an Autologic box before with no ill effects on the Manic tune.

I hoping the problem was due to the cracks near the turbo inlet, or even the damage to the downpipe and O2 sensor from the tire shop, as they would pay for replacements. I highly doubt it has much to do with the values set be the tune as the car has been running smoothly for months with new colder plugs. I should be picking up the car today. I'll also have to pick up MAF cleaner.

Prepare to spend 15 to 20K for a new one and 12K for used, if you can find one. Even a Chinese clone will run you five grand. At one point Autologic also offered performance tunes. They have since discontinued that policy and only provide factory software updates now.

Thanks Tigger. As my Mini Dealership likes me. (Brought a bunch of Miniacs there to have work done) my guy there reset my Mini for me...I won't spend the $$ for my own right now. I may later as I plan to build a track car next year (450HP)

I just thought i would chime in on Smog testing. Here in Vegas, they test annually. So even with a Manic tune, the secondary o2 sensor and evap will show "not ready". This wasn't enough to "fail" me, only reject.

Solution is to swap back in the stock cat and switch to stock tune every time. Just a heads up for anyone who may be coming up on smog time.

I hope Manic will somehow find a way to circumvent this in future updates.

You are right it does take the CEL trigger off but the "readiness" code is fail. I don't see Manic, going in to this fix and many states, pass even with one readiness code not ready.
My new downpipes for N14/N18 and the new B46/B8 motors do not through a code.
I'm glad you go it all worked out

I'd like to update everyone on the fuel cutting.
I replaced the intake turbo inlet tube (as it was leaking) and now the car is running as normal, no fuel cuts, no apparent misfires, etc. Fuel economy has jumped back up to where I average about 35 mpg with my spirited driving.

Thanks to everyone who contributed!

I guess I should add more to my question, seams all manic tunes do not throw codes for any pipe . Are you saying your pipe gives the ready for the O2 and can pass smog ?

My new kittiless DP's have an built in second bung, that satisfies the 2nd O2's frequency. I have done lots of testing on the both Mini generations and no CEL triggers and the readiness code stays ready.
When adding a tune, the DP can be coded out for Triggers, but the readiness code.
So, with the new DP, and tune just move the map to stock and all will be good.

Been a while since I've posted on this thread. But the update with Manic Motorsport is that they are now an Official OEM ECU Software Supplier for the MINI Challenge Car. They just made a multiyear deal with MINI UK. As now an official tuner, hopefully the dealers will be lots more lenient on Manic Tunes as MINI UK has signed them aboard. Check it out
