Like the title says. I'm wondering how effective the oil catch cans are on the N18 engine? I've always used them on my supercharged V8 engines and they're pretty darn effective at catching a lot of crud that would be normally making a mess inside the intake tract.

what about on these smaller N18 engines?

 

They will be effective at catching moisture mostly. If you think it will mitigate carbon buildup on the valves or intake, it won't. Direct injection is just a dirty process.

 

Well I mainly installed the can to catch any oil blow by from going in to the intake tract of the engine. I took off the hose that goes from the valve cover to the hose near the turbo. I was thinking that tube would already have oily residue all in it but it was clean as a whistle. This leads me to wonder if oil blow by might not be an issue with these engines.
