I don't know the answer to your question, but I've had a feeling that a jammer might not really be more useful than the best detector.

First, you could not use a detector also because your jammer would create signals that your detector would always be picking up.

Second, unless you have a Romulan cloaking device, what is going to keep the cop from pulling you over when she sees you zoom past at a speed that is obviously beyond the legal limit but her radar gun displays an error signal. There are a myriad of offenses that an officer could still write you up for and some of those might not be as pleasant as a speeding ticket.

Even it it was not illegal where I lived, I'd have a hard time explaining to a judge that the officer couldn't have know I was speeding because I was using a laser/radar jammer at the time.

What I might like is a device that senses the presence of law enforcement and begins launching boxes of Krispy Kremes as a diversionay measure

But I don't want to be a complete nay-sayer here, as I think the idea of a jammer is really freaking cool and I too would love to know some real-world test info.

Using an active radar jammers is extremely illegal - a federal offense I believe.

Passive Radar Jammers don't exist. It's a lie. That company that makes them is fraudulent. You can find out from many sites on the web, one of which offers $5000 to anyone who can provide them with a passive radar jammer that works.

http://www.radarbusters.com/products...rs/default.asp

As far as Laser Jammers go, in California they're illegal, and some other places, too I believe, but it's a questionable thing since Lasers are covered by F&D not FCC. That being said, all laser jammers have an off switch that you should flip once you slow down to the speed limit so the officer can successfully clock your speed or you're asking for a headache.

One of the highest ranked ones is the Escort ZR3. On many sites, I've found it's ranked highest, and second highest on another site. It pairs nicely with the Escort 8500 and Escort Solo S2.

I've read that the Valentine One is no longer top dog from a few sites, as well. I know a lot of people love their V1s and the difference in detection distance is really a matter of feet, but with all the interface and technological upgrades (as well as being able to defend against the highly inaccurate and total ******** POP radar which the Valentine One does not provide any protection against but new radar detectors do) it doesn't make sense to pay so much more for it anymore.

I have the Escort Solo S2. It's a cordless and it has worked for me on every occasion. It's ranked as the best cordless, but cordless have less range than corded ones. However, I have yet to get a ticket. Driving north out of Florida has to be one of the worst drives I've ever made. So many instant on Ka-Band patrol cars all the way up and it caught every single one, including those coming up behind me.

So, really, once you get up to the $300 range for detectors, you're buying for features not detection, since they all detect well enough to keep you informed of radar presence in the area.

A radar detector is no substitute for attentive driving. Watch traffic patterns, look at on-ramps as you pass them, check your mirrors often, look ahead. A radar detector is a tool to help you even the playing field, but police don't need radar to pull you over for speeding.

Police are not required to show you their radar printout. In theory, they could make up a number. I've had a number made up at me before by a policeman. He claimed I was going 95, but at the time I was driving a Geo Metro with over 100,000 miles on it. I could barely get it up to 85 on a good day. I was really only going 75 or so, but it didn't stop him from writing 95 on the ticket. In court I managed to get them to bring it down to 80, but it was still quite a fine.

I will be equipping my car with the ZR3 sometime in the next month or so because there are a lot of police on the highways in my city (Atlanta) that use Laser and I have an Escort detector. I figure, I can afford it and it may save me at night if I'm the only car out there.

Good luck!

There was a past issue of Eurotuner that had a complete article on the system which I have installed in my car. It is the K-40 with front and rear mounted radar receivers and a front mounted " diffuser " ( honest officer its not a jammer "They found it to work exceedingly well and was worth the investment in their opinion. Im my opinion after 34k + miles with NO radar or laser tickets I feel like it was worth the investment as well. I have been thru so much radar/laser between here ( L.A ) and Las Vegas or San Francisco that I am supriised I dont glow in the dark.

i have zr3 with two sensors in the front and one in the back

it is not much differnce from zr3 to k40. as long as u mount them right they all work perfect, coz you are talking about some differenc that you might never experience in real life.

Those testing numbers dont work very well, coz it all depends on what you doing and what cops doing.

It is a relationship between the locks and the locksmith and the thief!
none of them are perfect, and there is always a way to beat each other( if you do it right).

Zr3 has two sensors in the front so i fee better with two sensors, plus k40 laser kit is too over priced. i have to admit that V1 has better range/sensitivities than both of them. tested from both unit in MINIs. v1 always went off a llittle bit early than the laser unit may be coz of range.
but good luck with it.
if you have enough money buy two k40 sensors in the front and one in the back.
