I typically throw new oil in before I track anyhow...

Oil temps - here is the most commonly accepted industry rule
Motor oil temperature should be maintained below 300°, can withstand short periods of up to 350°.
Remember, the turbo drives oil temps up very high while in the turbo compared to other areas of the engine. This is why turbo motors require specific oils with anti-coking chemistry.
However,
"Mobil 1 advanced synthetic motor oil provides outstanding high-temperature performance and is proven to protect at engine temperatures up to 500°F."
Consider that oil is a lubricant AND a coolant:
One of the reasons it is wise to keep oil temperature below 300° is that piston skirt/cylinder wall/valve/valve guide/turbo temps are high. You use oil to cool these critical areas. Cool oil = less wear.
Optimum oil temperature is 240°-270° for the purpose of cooling these vital parts, that temp is measured in the pan or other supply container/reservoir.
