No not the jb. I'm taking about the manic tune.
Usually a dealer will not say anything, they record it and when u have a problem down the road that's when it happens.

How are the techs going to know if you have the manic tune?

There is a flash counter in every ecu. And a trace of everything when then what to find it. Blow a turbo or something important and thence that's when then see.
I have had every one of my cars tuned and didn't care. The mini only has 12k on it and years left.
That's why just looking for something easy. I'm not racing it.

I understand where you are coming from but let's back up a bit, I think that there was a little miscommunication.

You are leaning toward the JB+ because the switch for the Manic tune is another $200 and you were wanting to switch it back to the stock maps before you go to the dealer. If the dealer can in fact detect the tune then using the switch to go back to the stock maps won't change that.

I'm not sure if the techs can really determine this at the dealer level. But the engineers at BMW could probably tell that there is something amiss.

Yes. Right now I'm just looking for an increase, it's pretty much played out at stock level for me now.

If BMW/MINI treats tunes anything like VW/Audi does... yes, the techs can detect aftermarket software.

My jb+ was a miss. I spoke back and forth with terry, and my vehicle just didn't take to the jb+. He had me turn it to 100 and then remove it and I was getting 1 psi difference. I have the manic tune now, and it's simply amazing.

That's a great question. Must have just been a faulty one. I can't see how a car just "wouldn't take it." They work, it was the JB, not the car.

It's worth every penny, just get a new one. There will always be someone willing to buy yours down the road of you want to sell it.

Dude, it works. If i had no warranty, I'd be all over a tune. Why I like the JB... I have it turned to around 80%. I'm 100% stock... I run 3 gal of 85 ethanol and 10 gal of 93 gasoline (yes for some, hate me) and it works great. That puts me around 96 octane, zero issues and it pulls nice. I'm in FL, so I will definitely turn it down when it gets alittle warmer. But for stock, no timing issues, normal AFR, no heat issues, timing is normal. It works really nice.. I pretty much feel peak torque around 3k. I rarely surpass that but its fun I'm traffic, which i mainly have to deal with. Good luck

Maybe there was some issue with my jb than because mine has been uninstalled for almost a week and still hasn't changed from when it was plugged in I don't know but from what I read on it if you don't want to void warranty or worry about it than get the jb I went in 3 times for warranty work and just unplugged it when I got to the dealer no isssues
