New ECS Carbon Fiber intake

Thought I'd share this. I am extremely happy to see this intake come out, I would say that it is pretty reasonable in price and quality/ design seems to be great.

Just when I do the N14 JCW intake conversion, this comes out. On top of that, its $100 less and its CF. FML.

Sorry wallet, looks like you will be out another $500 soon

That's a very pretty piece. Info states +11 whp and +10 ft/lbs on a N14 JCW. Wonder what the gains would be on a N18 fJCW R58 ?

ECS? Any info on that. Thanks.

Hello Drivehard,

We have not yet dyno tested this on a N18 engine yet. But we expect based on previous figures to be around the same if not a little more due to the efficiencies of the N18 engine and the hp/tq bump from the N14.

Thanks for all the kind words here as we are very happy to offer this and we are excited to hear such nice comments.

Sorry but there is NO intake going to give you those gains, we've done plenty of testing to know this as you just can't get the inlet temps low enough to see a drop in intake temps on the outlet of the turbo.
That's why intercoolers have been the thing to show actual gains as they lower the temps after the turbo.

Maybe Ecs has a dyno sheet to support their claim.

Looks very nice. How is the noise, quiet as stock or similar to the typical Alta and NM sound?

Thanks MarioKart,

Gives more noise then the JCW Tuning Kit intake, which is reasonable louder then stock, and you can here inlet noise as acoustics of the box sound great with the large filter even though its closed box. The stock intake on the vehicles seems to almost insulate, guess that's why some MINI ETKs call it a intake muffler. As for the others aftermarkets we have not compared them side by side.

wish it was CARB legal! I would love it, but not one more part I have to swap pre-smog.

This looks interesting because it provides gains up top, where the stock turbo (even JCW 40mm) needs it. Any introductory specials, ecs???
