Heard some guys with factory JCW purchased jcw pro exhaust for the Bluetooth ability/awesomeness. They in turn did not need the tune since they are already jcw tuned. The code and ability to tune for that exhaust may be accessible if you find the right people. Let's say an independent shop that's able to program and use bmw software/hardware. So I've heard.
I'm supposed to be getting my JCW next week, and it will come with the JCW Pro exhaust. The part the dealer ordered is listed as an exhaust system, and is listed specifically for the JCW. Not sure if it has any associated software, but I'm assuming not.
There is no software with the exhaust for the JCW as it already has the tune. The MCS uses the tuning software. You should realize right at 270 with the PRO exhaust and the NM module.
Yes, NC, TN, Northern Ga. (Helen area) parts of WV and E KY have some great twisty roads that are lightly traveled with the demise of the coal industry, and of course the legendary Tail of the Dragon. There are some great roads yet to be explored, I ran across a road in NC during the MOTD and taking a side trip to Helen named Stairway Road. I made a mental note to check it out the next time I am in the area.
Aaack, motoring Hell! I was in Monterey 1970 and traveled Highway 1 on my way to Texas, I remember getting onto the the freeway north of Los Angeles and thinking jeez, what a highway, bumper to bumper 8 lanes of maniacs!
I was stationed in LA for a couple of years in the early 70's and the Central Coast for 5 years in the early 80's. Loved the Central Coast, but you couldn't pay me to go back now.
This is a great topic but, SERIOUSLY???? Not one sound clip from one person, not even a stock one......
When discussing a MOD, component, or whatever...A POST WITHOUT PICS AND OR SOUND BITS IS USELESS!!! Help a brother out!
I was a little confused after reading through this thread on the diameter of the exhaust. There's a post earlier that says the JCW exhaust is 76mm. I don't have that to compare, but I did measure the diameter of the JCW Pro exhaust I have. It appears to be 2.5" (or, perhaps, ever so slightly smaller).

The length of the midpipe is ~32.5" from the flange to the clamp in the middle.
Yes, if you don't run the car with the exhaust open most of the time and even then the primary exhaust will be more sooty. Mine are soot covered as I have 30,000 miles on the car with most of it at high RPMs and I can't even buff it out with polishing compound. It's just a side effect of too many high RPM twisting miles, offset by miles of smiles!
I painted my chrome JCW tips with flat black/high heat spray paint. It is the paint used for stoves, etc. You could mask the outside and just shoot the interiors...

Great idea! Need to look into this when the time comes.
Mine really don't look bad. I maybe have the flap open a quarter of the time, and have cleaned the tips maybe twice in 18k. The soot on them at the moment would clearly wipe off with a spritz of apc and a rag.
Doubting my original measurement, I picked up a more precise tool to measure the pipe. It looks like it is actually 2.75", as quoted earlier. Note to self: tape measure isn't precise enough.
