Exhaust

I need an exhaust system for Manic stage 2. I want something that sounds good and won't wake up the neighborhood. Maybe just the neighbors ;-P. Anyways. I can't find a single turbo back. I need the whole system replaced including the down pipe. I'm going catless for price reasons. I'm looking at the invidia q300 as it looks like it hooks up to the down pipe and maybe the milltek down pipe. Or a full milltek exhaust including buying their downpipe separately. Lastly Ive seen the nm downpipe back exhaust but it's a little pricy. What sounds good and what do I need to replace the whole system. Remember it'll need to be catless and also not too loud or drony. I do want to be able to hear it pretty well though.

If you dont mind a 100-cell cat, go with the Akrapovic System. Sounds great and not loud. Hardly any drone as well. Perfect fitment and looks great with the carbon tips. Exhaust and downpipe are sold separately.

A cheap alternative is a catless downpipe (from whoever) and a JCW rear section. Sounds amazing.

I'm getting my 08 MCS ready for Manic Stage 2 this summer and I'm going with an iPE 200-cell downpipe (Thanks GEMSTER!). I already have the JCW muffler, not full DP-back, and will keep that. I love the JCW muffler, it's my favorite mod by far. The sound is deeper and slightly louder but with no drone. If you want it to hear it well, it's gonna have to be loud, just depends on how loud you can handle.

Check out the difference:

Thanks for the input guys. I really want it to be 2.5 or 3 inches for max performance. The only reason I was going to go catless was one I could find a 100 cel and two cats are expensive in comparison to just a pipe coming down. I'll give the acropvik exhaust a look. If something is cutback does that mean it hooks up to the down pipe? And isn't the jcw stuff really expensive? I've heard really good things about invidia and it's affordable. Would that hook up to the downpipe? I can't wait for my manic stage two. This car will make me go broke lol.

You arent going to make enough power to make use of a 3" exhaust. If anything, you will be losing torque. If you do want a 3", you will need a 3" downpipe too. Most downpipes on the market is 2.5". 2.5" is more than enough.
The JCW muffler will do fine. It runs about ~$500. You need a exhaust sleeve for install. The exhaust diameter is 2.25".
The Akrapovic runs about $2500 including the downpipe. Pricey, yes, but you get what you pay for. Quality is top-notch. Pipe diameter is 60mm (2.3").
All cat-backs on the market hook up to the downpipe the same way.
Cats aren't just about noise levels and emissions. They can help tune the tone. Some catless exhausts sound like crap imo.

I can attest that unless you add a resonator, the Q300 plus a decatted downpipe is loud as all *****. But you can mitigate this by keeping the RPMs below 2k or so if you are just putting around your neighborhood. I've read the Miltek is not as loud as the Invidia, but I can't speak to it personally.

I would get the size pipe YOU want or feel you want, do your research on it and go with it. If it's to loud buy a better stereo. Lol

I got the invidia q300 and I love it. It's weird though because I swear sometimes it's loud and sometimes it's not. And that's under the same driving conditions. I'll be going full catless soon. My exhaust has a resonator built in so hopefully that will help with the noise.

I have a Miltek catless DP and full NM exhaust. While it IS loud, it is not as raspy as a catless JCW exhaust. I will agree that catted setups sound more refined.

Yeah I would expect them to sound more refine. The only reason I'm going full catless is for a manic stage 2 tune. And to buy I high flow Cat is a lot of money. So paying more money for less performance seems backwards to me. So I'll settle with the loud exhaust.

You could just replace the center section. https://www.ecstuning.com/ES2612082/...FcYlgQodb-YG2g
