Cool.

But wait, are you sayin' making money is better than eating free BBQ???

Well, I guess if your making money making BBQ it is, in the end, the best of both worlds.

After all, my motto: "Life is what you do while you're waitin' for BBQ."

Certified BBQ Judge. That is impressive.

That should get you free food in the south if you put that on your side window of your MINI.

Wait this thing isn’t mid-engined?????

for reasons I cannot possibly explain Dinan says to open both ends.

Was reading the cheat sheet and wondered about that myself. Could it be so you can access the first aid kit easier?

I thought we've gone through this on another thread. Access to the ejection seat module is through the boot!! And keeping the boot open disables the ejection function, thus eliminating unwanted activation of the seat ejecting function.

As for removing the negative terminal, simply remove the entire battery, clamp vice grips firmly onto the negative terminal, and twist until the post is separated from the internal plates and the battery is entirely ruined. Then request a replacement battery under warranty. Never buy a new battery again, not to mention elimination of the coding hassle for battery registration!!

Regarding engine location, I've only been able to find the front 4 cylinders. Can't imagine where the other 4 are located, but, after you get that Elite going, I'm sure it will feel like all 8 are firing.

Keep us posted. Don't forget to leave a little blood.

Oh, and extra karma points are awarded if, while twisting off the negative battery terminal with a vice-grip, the positive terminal is contacted and the tool is welded to the battery, without explosion or electric shock. Loud popping sounds are permitted without loss of points,

I think that "remove negative battery terminal" is more a CYA for Dinan than anything else. I'm of the "Let's don't and say we did" school. I think as long as all the electrical whiz bangs are asleep you'll be good to go. I've had my NM off and on at least a dozen times and have yet to even put the car to sleep. Just fiddled around with the key in my pocket, but with no problems cause by my ineptitude.

When the battery is disconnected it's a good opportunity to upgrade. I added a few golf car batteries to give extra power for upgraded sub-woofers and ignition coil. I'm sure the extra juice can only help the Dinan's performance as well. But then there's the issue of the extra weight from all the batteries, and the fumes when they're charging... hard to gain any ground in this life.

When I did my Dinan Sport, same drill. Just popped the bonnet, put the key fob in the house, let the car start snoozing, did the installation, and motored. No issues.

You guys are awesome. Got it installed. I have no idea what the Sport or anything else feels like but A big bump over stock. A huge wave of torque flings this beast. Now to address the shifter, body roll, chrome, and 1st gear feeling like it’s made of rubber bands.

So, did you bother with the negative terminal?

I did. I agree it probably wasn't necessary but if things went wrong and I didn't follow the directions I'd be seriously kicking myself.

And here comes bytetronik with a full flash reportedly on the way in the new year, done via OBD port and reversible back to stock.... never a dull moment as the performance people start lining up to help us tweak our 3rd gen MINIs..... get out yer wallets, again.
