I can't say I'm surprised by the desire to piece-together a kit, but I strongly feel that it's the wrong approach.

In my experience it only leads to changed plans, sold cars, corners being cut on installation (especially tuning) and money lost.

It's also a good plan to have money to spare for the unexpected expenses - axles, clutches, extra dyno time, whatever...

As a vendor, selling a generic manifold, or oil line to someone is one thing, but when you're in the business of making a unique, custom kit I really wouldn't want people out there with only half my parts and claiming to have the "XYZ kit".

I agree with JeffS and would add that a vendor is asking for a load of customer problem solving if he does breakdown the kit; problems he already went to the trouble of solving by fomatting the kit!
