Boost gauge - why?

I really want one of the side pod gauge brackets, and I'm deciding on which two gauges to select. I know I need oil pressure - perhaps a dual pressure/temperature gage. That leaves me with one gage space.

If I dont plan to modify my engine - I run G Stock class - do I really need a boost gauge? Even if I did - what's the point? I guess my question is this: what actionable information can a boost gauge give me?

Any good manufactures for 52mm gauges? Greddy has some, but I'd rather pick up dual display gauges..

I've got one... not sure as to what usable info there is, but it sure is fun watching that thing climb.
I know, I know... eyes on the road.

Much useful info is had by the boost guage. If your belt is slipping, headgasket is bad(more vac), watch for over boost, loose intake or IC hoses ect. When racen it is alway good to have to much info!

For the racer, yes a boost gauge is a worthwhile addition to your gauge package. However, for the average driver, a boost gauge is nothing more than a gadget to show off, at most. Worst of all, if you put one in and are constantly watching it go up and down, you aren't watching THE ROAD!

Again, for the average motorer, you don't need one, and in my opinion, shouldn't have one. Keep your eyes on the prize (the road).

IMHO, that is...

It's a good engine diagnostic tool.

Do a Google search for "vacuum gauge", lots of info there.

Gauges are fun, can't get enough of 'em!

FYI, I find the boost gauge is an invaluable tool which I use all the time in daily driving. I'd say it's even more useful than it was on my old VW turbo since the supercharger output is so much more linear. I can diagnose problems with the car better (like pinning down the Yo-Yo and testing solutions) since I have a boost gauge. Boost gauges are for everyone! Well, everyone with a forced induction engine.

It also helps in situations such as this from time to time...
