Drivetrain Official ALTA Q&A thread!
#976
I installed the 17% Alta pulley, they suggested that I go with a smaller belt so I had them send it. I also called them and asked about colder plugs since I'm producing more heat. More heat means less power and greater risk of detonation.
The Alta tech I spoke with was beyond informative and answered all my questions and quelled my concerns.
I've done a bit of research regarding colder plugs and it seems there are tons of opinions on the matter. The Alta tech really knew what he was talking about and I wanted to express my appreciation for that here.
Great job you guys!

He suggested that I go with a plug thats 1 degree colder. I went from a stock plug thats heat range "6" to a colder heat range "7" plug.
I installed the plugs and my new Alta top mount IC about an hour ago. Haven't driving the car much except for a maiden voyage for about 10 min. after everything was back together. During that run it seemed like the car ran smoother. I'll put it through its paces this weekend!

blissful: We would recommend one temp range cooler. We don't get to picky on brand. Whatever you prefer is ok with us!
wtadye: Thanks for the compliments! Sorry about that broken lamp over the weekend. Hope those new stone guards help for the next time. Still LOVE your car. That color and body kit really POP!
Intense: Glad everything went well!
Putz: 1) Good question that I don't even know the answer too.
2) Sure! E-mail me at adam@altaminiperformance.com Happy to send you a copy.
Chat soon folks!

Ok, I bought a Alta top mount IC and I have a question. The IC is supported by some adjustable mounts that twist up and down to support and possition the IC. Are there supposed to be some similar mounts for the bottom?
Right now the bottom of my IC is sitting on a steel mount point where the stock IC bracket mounted. This is BAD because its metal on metal and has been wearing away the IC. I'm afraid that its going to wear holes thru the IC. I went and bought some felt pads to stop the wear points for the meantime but I really would like this thing to be mounted properly
Am I missing the lower mounts? If so can I order them?
Thanks Alta
Rob

eager2own / putz: you guys crack me up! Stop hoarding the stickers!-)
Intense: Thanks for the question. I am lost as to what is going on there. Which version of the intercooler do you have? Maybe call me or Jeff here. So we can figure out what you need and get it too you. Also, was this purchased new or used? Happy to help!
Thanks again folks!

JIMINNI: CARB first. Jeff and I are working on something new as an end run on the CARB issues. (Very kool if this will work, but it will be 6-8 months away.) On the other, that would be nearly identical to my wife's convertible. That car ran out with a 15% pulley and the same mods 215 WHP. Hope that helps!
Thank you!
Thank you!
