Help a girl out

Okay just got my new intake from Randy Webb, now can someone please tell me about what it might cost to have someone install it for me? It looks pretty easy but I'm a girl and don't want to get my hands dirty or break a nail just kidding. I don't really have any tools nor do I trust myself to do it right. So what do ya think it might cost?

Sandie

There's some detailed guides online. I'd recommend reading through a few, and seeing if you can't save yourself $50-250 bucks, for a job that someone will possibly go online and read the same instructions to accomplish.

If you are feeling really girly, just invite a guy over to help you, and offer him some dinner.

Sandie,

It should be less than an hour - I'll be in LA next month I think if you want me to do it (you've waited this long ).

If not, I could recommend a couple places.

Hope that helps!

Bummer. I'll probably be in NorCal relatively soon too - then there's always AMVIV III !

You could also call Edge (San Ramon I think) or Bay Bridge Motors (Oakland) and see how much they want to do the work.

Tell Jaques (sp?) if you call Bay Bridge or Erik if you call Edge I told you to call and you got the intake from me and see if that won't cost you more.

Hope that helps!

Mike is a great guy too! How could I have forgotten??

There are many places in the Bay Area that work out well. I know Al over at A&E Performance is a MINI guy too.

I'm sure I'll think of more.

Hope that helps!

What no other MINI owners in the area to help a fellow MINIAC out?

Sandie,

I'd rank it a three beer job (real beer mind you, or a six-pack of some cheap swill). Any guy worth his ********* should be able to do your install in less than 90 minutes. I'd grap a friend, family member or fellow MINI driver (preferably all three in the same person). CAI install is a great afterwork/weekend job.

Yeah, I mean unless you aren't into guys ...find a good looking guy ask him to help you out and by the end of it you might get a free dinner

Not difficult at all

Diy!

I would say do it yourself, with a mechanically inclined friend (or local NAM helper) at arms length. It is a great personal satisfaction/confidence builder.

I did mine in the dark with a Petzel headlamp. My garage has no power.

I agree - I don't know if you have a Cooper or an S, but at least on the Cooper, the tools required are minimal, and there's nothing too difficult conceptually. Maybe a bit of muscle required to pry the tube off the throttle body, but that's it. Just make sure you have plenty of time, and at least a phone number or two of people on here that can help out in a pinch. If it's a Cooper, feel free to PM me for my #.

This was the first mechanical project I'd ever done on a car (other than change oil), and it was very satisfying.

Me too! At least that's how it ended up. I overestimated my remaining daylight.

Unfortunately, she's in Yreka, which is almost in Oregon. Not many people up there. She is as far from my place as you are from Hartford, CT.

But hey, Sandie, if you want to come down to the beach, I'd be happy to help out. Unfortunately it would cost almost $100 just in gas!
