here is a tidbit:

the mini has been shown to be hp limited by the following:

pistons: above 300hp and they can blow ring lands; some have done it above 250 hp. not a detonation or heat problem, more a cylinder pressure problem and a piston design/metal strength issue. with the right pistons, 30psi is reachable.

fuel delivery: right around 300hp, the stock pump and fuel lines cannot keep up. the 400+hp monsters have a complete replacement system.

sc: ultimately, this should go, to be replaced by a turbo only. here hp is going to be reaching for 500+hp.

rpm: sooner or later, valves are going to float and the hydraulic adjusters are going to fail (there are reports of 8,500 rpm minis out there, but only rumors) and rod loads will get excessive, but the big hp nmbers are so far not revving high.

cylinder head: compared to a Honda, this thing is a joke. It is amazing 400+hp can be squeezed out of it. Hondas use twin cams, have no hydraulic adjusters, much larger valves and ports and room for higher vlave lift.

displacement: the bores are too close to allow over-boring; I have again heard rumors. but have never seen a stroker kit..(it needs about 5/8" stroke increase to reach 2 liters.)
