Intake Manifold - best one?

Looking to add intake manifold to mini to finish it off,had alot of work done and will be putting rest of little bits - well quaife, flywheel and clutch aint little - 20hour job!

But got headwork done, GRS intercooler, 400cc injecotrs, nos, AGS intake system (fitting in january), GTT header with exhaust, AP racing brakes, basically the full lot of work done to it!

But want intake manifold to finish it all off.

I know M7 do one through the cosworth kits, but as anyone got this or got another branded intake?

thanks

Dan

I have the Webb Motorsports intake manifold.... I put it on about a month ago as the "finishing touch." Truthfully, I can't tell much difference in performance but I like knowing that "everything" has been done. At about 200whp the small increments of power (5-8) are tough to justify from a $/power point of view....... I think if I ran my car like a business instead of a hobby my investment would have been better to put the money toward the LSD/flywheel/clutch....that being said, I have a pride of ownwership knowing I have done "everything" to the engine.......LSD etc later.

The purpose of porting the intake manifold is to match IM ports to the modified intake ports on the head. “Matching” the ports insures there’s still an adequate anti-reversion step and no edges protruding into the flow path. The ports on the intake manifold should be smaller (not too much smaller) than the ports on the head but the injector channel should closely match the head’s profile. Ideally the same person should do this matching at the same time as the head modification. When the head is CNC’d, replication is more standardized making an after-the-fact add-on by the same maker less awkward. If the headwork were done by hand then a template would be necessary to get a better fit or return the head for the matching work. In addition to the port face matching, the IM port’s shape should have a uniform gradual transition back towards the distributing plenum and not abruptly confined to the exit. The other matching should be done between the IM and the intercooler output duct. Once again use the smaller exit into larger entrance rule but an exact fit would not be detrimental at this juncture. Also, it is very important to match the metal gaskets in both places as well. The matching at the IM and intercooler output duct can be done by the end user and doesn’t require a lot of skill. For forced induction applications polishing is not required and the internal volume of the IM is adequate.

In my opinion it is better to have the stock IM than use an ill-fitting after-the-fact bolt on. However, having the IM port-matched to specific headwork is beneficial and highly recommended.

My intake manifold port matching was performed by Larry Widmer at ENDYN. Here are some pictures of the handywork. http://www.theoldone.com/components/...ead_modifi.htm
