This looks really useful but I don't think it will work with our cars. The MINI uses "computer area network" (CAN) protocol for the engine management system and our cars belong on the exclusion list that is on the link dominicminicoopers provided. We'll have to wait for a new version of the scanner that supports CAN.

It might be true about the MINI using CAN, but it's ALSO imported into the US, so it MUST
be OBD-II compatible, and that's what I sue to gather the data.
scantool.net has a kit for something like $65. You want the ELM-SCAN-ISO kit.

i record about 30 samples per second with Pocketlogger, but its a litte bit pricier.
