Changed Bypass Valve
I just finished the install ot the Detroit Tuned BPV
EDIT >>> I know I said TB ... SORRY !!!
WOW !!!
Now some back ground:
I Did VGS some time ago and was quite happy.
Over the last couple of months I had much lower vacuum than before. Thought that might be a hose issue.
I took the IC off and checked all hoses... seemed OK
Decided to do the DT BPV
look at my BPV as removed
The DT BPV had a butterfly that shut tight ... NO light gap
I did a ECU reset
Now I am back to 10 lbs + of vacuum
and the the car feels GREAT now
As you can FEEL the BOOST
Gets my

No, this is just sloppy parts and workmanship from the factory, that all fell within the tolerances they had allowed.
The Detroit BPV is the only way to go.

Absolutely not!
But FWIW, you can just reset the stop-screw and get your valve back to normal. Use some thread lock, and it's good to go!

This one always gets me...
This wasn't invented by Chad at DT. It was first done by Ryan (RyePhile here) and went by the name of RyeFix II. I guess I've just been around long enough to have seen the history, and how history forgets.....

My thought process was that since he had experienced a loss of vaccum/boost at some specific point in time after the VGS was done, the added air pressure dump from post S/C could have damaged the weak/cr$ppy OEM spring from the added velocity of the valve opening/closing, therefore causing the valve to not close properly/completely, as per the posted picture. Then again, who knows what it was like before the VGS.
Thanks Dr.O , I've previously read over the referenced post and other related threads and I (think) I understand what the mod is for and how it works.
And I also get the general consensus that the OEM BPV's are cr$ppy at best.
BTW, the butterfly didn't shrink , it's just not fully closed.

To adjust the stop
just remove the valve, and turn the set screw. In later valves, they use some good thread lock, so you have to apply a little heat to get it to give.
To modify the spring, I took the diaphram apart, and then stretched the stocker. IT's not the same as the spring in the DT valve, but it gives you some of the effects (earlier closing, but it will open all the way, and doesn't slam closed as much under light throttle driving). Taking the diaphram apart is a bit of a pain, and having 3-4 small jewelers screwdrivers helps (flat blade, not Phillips!). I think the Yo-Yo Chronicals has info on this as well. But that is a novel of a thread!
The VGS won't trash the spring.... Vacuum is what fights to open the spring, and boost forces it more closed. Higher boost doesn't really move too much in the diaphram... Sound like his just gave it up, like many have before!

Yep, right as always Doc (or almost always, just ask Chow ). Thanks for clearing up my erroneous theory. Somehow it made sense in my head.
