Injectors and 15% question

Hi motorers,

I bought a 19% pulley and JCW injectors. They will be installed in Wednesday.

I also have GIAC software and will get the update for injectors/19%.

I currently have a 15% pulley on my car.

Does anyone know if I could run the 15% with the injectors and get the GIAC update for the 17% & injectors? Or I have to install the 19% pulley to get all the benefits from GIAC and the 380cc injectors?

I know the 19% pulley will give more power in the low-end range, but I am not excited about going above the S/C RPM limit and the waterpump. I like to sometimes rev my engine above 6K...

Thanks for any imputs!

FWIW, I've had my 19%er (without injectors or ecu tuning) for over a year now and haven't had any problems to date. Normal driving I don't really go up past 4k unless I'm getting on the highway or just eating crap. But every once in a while I do let it rip to redline.

Even in the hot summer months (over 100 even) I had zero problems (knock on wood). The car felt kinda sluggish compared to normal but thats from the hot IAT's.

However, I've heard more than once that with more mods a 15%er will make more power at redline than a 19%er, just something to consider if you have a lot of other mods.

Probably yes... I am still deciding if I'll have the 19% or not... But according to 02///MCS's post, I probably will.

I'll PM you as soon as I'll have it installed

The SC red-line is soft...

if you go over (but not by too much) it the thing won't grenade, it will just wear faster.

The differences between the 19 and the 15 are real, but you should be able to drive around on the 19 without changing the ECU. Larger injectors are another deal, as the car will be over 10% richer in open loop mode. Closed loop may or may not be fine, as it really depends on if the car can tune to the larger size via the fuel trims.

Depends on the price. I may if it isn't too expensive and there are still slots open.

I'll have the 19% pulley installed tomorrow... I decided to get it installed because I am always driving in the low & mid RPM range and I think I'll get more benefits than downsides for my driving style.

Plus, GIAC recommand 17% or 19% pulley for injectors with their software. I have to admit the GIAC & 15% was a blast to drive though!

I'll get back with a little review tomorrow evening.

I see you said you had the GIAC software with the 15%,did it really smooth out the power curve as they say?Any problems? I have 03's with 15k and have added 15%s/c and 2%crank along with DDM air box,MSD coil and Jackson wires and thought my next step was software and have been debating GIAC or MTH,what are you thoughts on this?I am running stock injectors. Thanks, Bill

I've had MTH for a long time. I've tried all the version available and saw an improvment along the way with each version. The Tuner, version 7, was the best from MTH, but still lacked some smoothness and how it delivered power across the RPM. I've always had the feeling that with MTH, there was not a lot of power available in the low-end range.

Another issue with MTH is the service. I know Don from MTH-USA had made some huge efforts in order to make it better, but the service from the German team was gettting worst every time I had to contact them. They are very nice people, but they grew too fast and did not adjust according to the amount of customers.

On the other hand, GIAC is always like a dream! My car feels extra smooth and there is some power in the low-end. There is no more flat spot or rough idle. Their customer service is great. I've email them a few time before getting it and they always answered the next day.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

I had the kit installed today.

All I have to say is WOW!! The 19%+injectors+GIAC is awesome. It pulls very strong from 2000RPM and it just won't stop. And as I got used with GIAC, it is very smooth.

I went for a 45 minutes ride, and kept it under 6000RPM. My boost gauge showed 18psi at 6000RPM, and 14psi at 4000-4500RPM.
