EIM "Meet and S-cream, Part Quatre" and Detailing Day REDUX -- Sept 26th
Yes indeed -- this much-looked-forward-to event is back on the calendar!
This annual "Meet and S-cream" ice cream event will happen on Sunday, September 26th. It will start in Iowa City at 1:00 pm and finish in Riverside.
Gird your loins for (1) a fun little scenic country drive, (2) fantastic local ice cream (of course) at a Riverside institution, (3) unique Star Trek memorabilia at James T. Kirk's future birthplace, (4) an awesome group detailing party [my OCMD needs a treatment badly], (5) a major league raffle item, and (6) a superb buffet dinner together. Something to satisfy every MINI enthusiast.
Everything you need to know is listed in the EIM Event Calendar entry (<-link). Sign up soon and tell all your friends.
Many sincere thanks to Bill and Alyce for their generosity in putting this together for us.

On the way to Washinton after the parade today, I decide to pre-run the route from IC to Riverside for the Meet and S-cream next Sunday. I realized that my original route map needed some work, since Sharon Center Rd turns to gravel at 540th St SW. Ergo, I turned left toward Bayertown Rd and discovered a sweet connecting route -- several 35 mph twisties and a couple posted at 25 mph. It eventually comes back to US-218 at Hills. Here's the route:

Alternatively, Bill might have a bit more docile route in mind:

Bottom line: We'll just follow Bill and Alyce's lead -- could be either of the two routes.

I might want to let Amber drive then.
She's definitely the one with the lead foot. I'm not scared to push it at a drag strip or if I can see a long way ahead, but I've been driving for over 15 years without a speeding ticket and want to keep it that way.
Not to say I wasn't crazy up until about 25 or so.....I just never got caught.

I think people are going to Gays Mills on Saturday and this is on Sunday.
We are going to be in Warren, IL, (our town) for the Pumpkin Fest on Saturday and we are still looking for a babysitter for Sunday.
If anyone wants to head our way to Pumpkin Fest, just program Warren, Illinois into your coordinates in GPS or in Mapquest. We live in a huge green Victorian style house on Main Street. It's impossible to miss.
We'd love to have you over and show you the festivities.

Viper is correct...there is no "instead." The Gays Mills festival has only been discussed as a supplement to our Sunday event -- NOT a substitute.

Needless to say, the day wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without all of Bill and Alyce's thoughtfulness, extreme generosity, preparation, and planning. We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It made for a fantastically fun and special day!
It was great getting to meet Bill W. and Laura -- hope to see you again soon!
