Electrical Grounding wire for gauges

Grounding wire for gauges
So I'm most of the way thru the install of my oil pressure and oil temp gauges (mounting them below the toggles) and see a note in the instructions that the ground wire for the gauges needs to be attached to the engine block. Meanwhile I've already found a real convient and functioning ground in the interior. Anybody heard if this is a must or will a good solid ground no matter where it is work just as well? I really don't want to tear half my work apart.

You're fine grounding them to something solid and metal in the interior, since you've already checked to make sure it's a good ground.
I have no idea why the instructions would insist that they be grounded to the engine block. If they said that the gauges should be grounded directly to the battery, I'd just figure they were being overly-cautious, but there are a bunch of ground points that are as good or better than the engine block.
