Invisicord in Radar Detector Install?

Has anyone used the invisicord (www.invisicord.com) to install a V1 or escort in their R56?

The Inviscord would not work well with the rear view mirror itself. There is not an easily exposed harness to simply plug into. Here is a DIY hardwire to the headliner above the rear view mirror.

For my hardwire of an Escort 9500i with SmartCord remote, I used an Add-A-Circuit (mini size) to the fusebox F32 and tucked the wiring between the headliner and windshield and down the passenger side outside edge A-pillar under the door gasket strip. There are lots of crevices to hide wires. Takes less than 10 minutes and is just as stealthy.

If you are using a remote display/mute button, this would be a better option because you need to run wire anyway to the radar detector.

I also hardwired my NUVI GPS in similar fashion.

It's easier to run the wire to the fuse box than to try to splice that invisicord thing in. Don't even have to remove any dash/trim pieces. An add-a-fuse keeps you from having to splice anything too.

Very interesting -- when you talk about the lighter plug, was that an interim solution before you went to the add-a-fuse? It seems like you wouldn't need a lighter plug with the add-a-fuse. Also, the add-a-fuse doesn't have a ground? You have to ground separately?

Thanks! You've been great help!

The add-a-fuse just adds power, 12v, you still need a ground. The screw that is visible inside the glovebox works fine for this. If you use a lighter plug, it would be powered and grounded through the lighter socket.

I used a separate cigarette lighter female plug adapter for my Garmin Nuvi since the traffic receiver is built in the cigarette lighter plug. I still connected the wiring of the adapter to the add-a-circuit and grounded it to the screw visible inside the glovebox as mentioned by Minidrivr.

As for my radar detector, I didn't use a cig female adapter. I directly wired it to the add-a-circuit and grounded it in similar fashion. I then mounted the Escort SmartCord remote in the top-left of the center cubby with double sided tape. Easy to reach there.
