Spark plug gaps

I've searched but for whatever reason I have not been able to find an answer for the following questions:

- what is the gap for spark plugs on the r53?

- how do you gap a multielectrode plug? ( I have some beru ultra x plugs that I'd like to replace the stock ones with, and I have no idea what the gap is or how to gap these)

Thanks!

Scratch that. Distributor just got back to me.

For anyone wondering, they are shipped fixed for the car you order them.

Multi-electrodes dont need gapped. I run brisk single electrode plugs with a .029 gap.

Never trust "pre-gapped" plugs. They can be off quite a bit (unless multi).

I have a really bad hesitation when I accelerate, but only when the temp outside is hotter than 70 degrees. Could it be due to my spark plug gap or could it be something else? Does anyone have advice on this issue?

Are you running plugs that are 1 range cooler? With a pulley it is strongly recomended by most.
Also, if you have a pulley you should probably follow the JCW spark plug replacemnt guidelines....check motoring file....if I remember right it is about 1 time per year or so... Might be every insp 2.
I also like your product.....ever think of an product that attatches to the oem shade with clips so it can be rolled up with the oem shade?

Thanks for your help. How can I tell if I am running the correct spark plugs? Which model and brand of spark plugs would you recommend for the hot vegas weather? Lately our weather has been 50-60 degrees outside and my car is running excellent, but when our temps hit the 80-100+ range, it was running really, really bad. I was experiencing lots of hesitation almost daily. To answer your question about the shade, we looked closely at it prior to our current design and attaching an aftermarket shade to the OEM screen would possibly damage the oem roller mechanism due to the precise thickness of how MINI designed theirs to work correctly.

I'd give WayMotorWorks a call. I think the plug number is stamped on the metal....but not sure...I'm on the road on a trip. With those symtoms it sounds like it might be the plugs....new ones are about 10$ each, but be very careful to tourque them correctly when you install them. Some are saying to use some locktite to prevent them from backing out. On my car I thought it was all done perfectly, and when I had some work done on my car a few thousand miles later, 2 were loose. I guess I got luckey.
