don't suppose you have a picture of the socket ? I just put my bumper back on and bolted everything up only to find one of the little 'eyelid' parking lights out. I can get my hand in there and there's a bit of wiggle in the socket clockwise/counterclockwise, but it really feels like something's going to snap before I get it free.
I was going to just ignore it for a while, but that warning light & chime are really obnoxious.

U have to unplug the bulb first before turning it. There's a lol nub that blocks it from turning when plugged in

Freudian slip right
Thanks, that's far more elaborate than most cars, usually for the little parking bulbs, they're just friction fit/pushed in.

Only one that doesn't seem to give the bulb out is the MachV hard wire, I haven't been following this issue recently, so there may be some new developments.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, cheapo ebay 13-smd work for a few months, then the bulb out warning will start to show up. I've gotten used to it and basically ignore it like white noise. The 12-smd you posted will probably act the same.

Just to be sure, are the PIAA 168 or the Nokya 194 city lights giving any Bulb Out warning problems?

incandescent bulbs are fine afaik, it's the unresisted LEDs that give the warning.

Yep should not have an issue with normal incandescents.

A little warning to those wanting to changing out their eyelids with LED modules, especially the ones with the white nylon base (common on ebay).

One of my LEDs burned out after a year and a half with no spare (and constant alerts), so I put the OEM incandescent blubs back in. Well... the connection is extremely loose now, one of the bulbs fell off into the housing and I had to fish it out with a bent paper clip and 2 sided tape. The white nylon base is slightly thicker and the steel wire lead adds to the thickness.

I'm hoping the metal contacts in the connector spring back and add some tension after more time.

If they're stretched out/bent and couldn't hold a bulb, you're going to have to bend them back, the metal pieces aren't going to heal themselves.

Had the same issue. I had to replace the socket... ~$13 from dealer.

They won't heal, but they'll rebound some, they've been compressed but aren't creased. Passenger side will hold now, but it's still looser than I prefer.

Has anyone with the Nokya Hyper Yellow fogs also used an upgraded wiring harness? I was looking around the web for cheaper prices and this website (http://www.racinglab.com/nohyyeprohal14.html) says that the upgraded harness can help protect against the bulb heating up too much and damaging the housing. Is this even necessary, or are our fogs already wired for this type of wattage?

Just get bulbs that are 35watts
The 100watt bulbs will burn your harness or mount.

Here is a shot of them under the Bridal Veil Falls at the Dragon this weekend.

Great pic - really like those yellow fogs.

I am trying to convince my Significant Other to go with Hoen white city lights and the Hoen yellow fogs for our JCW. I figure if she doesn't like the yellow fogs, I won't turn them on when she is in the car!

EDIT: I was checking out hoen's website and I see they have this pic posted.

What did you use for xenon match reverse lights?

I'm not planning on buying them but I am still curious what he/she used and what does it look like.

I'm more curious about the LED driving bulbs. I got a W5W from an eBay link mentioned somewhere in this thread and they're dying already :(

Can anyone recommend a good set of W5W bulbs?

I have ordered the PIAA extreme white bulbs for my city lights. Seem to be the consensus for the best colour match to the xenon headlights. I haven't seen much good news about LED W5W city lights so I stuck with regular bulbs.

I see. I wonder if I've messed up the socket withthe wider LED bulbs. where'd you source your PIAAs from?

I was going to buy at Amazon but they went out of stock. So when I ordered my winter wheel/tires from TireRack last week, I noticed they sold them also and added them to the order.

Gotcha. So "PIAA W5W extreme white" then?

Tire Rack labels them as "PIAA 168 Xtreme White". Haven't arrived yet - sure hope they look OK.

PIAA Xtreme White, excellent match to the Xenons. I tried LEDs too, but annoyed the hell out of me that they would flicker a bit when first turning them on. So I got the PIAAs, and am "Xtremely" happy.

You can get em from Amazon just like I did, and only about $17.00 shipped:
