I just picked up a set of the PIAA xtreme white wedge bulbs and a pair of Nokya Hyper Yellow H8 fog bulbs. Installed them this past weekend with my front/rear mudflaps. The PIAAs look great and from Amazon were very cheap.

After having the yellow fog bulbs in my GTI I had to have them back. In rain and snowy weather like we have been getting they are a great!

I went with normal bulbs so that I did not have to mess with resistors etc.

Got my bulbs from Hoen today and just installed them, Took way longer than it should have but they were stubborn and didn't want to come out. Def unplug the wires first and then take the Fogs out first and the DRLs are so much easier, especially on the drivers side because of the tight confines of the coolant/wiper fluid tank.

The DRLs are still a little more yellow than I would like though.. I want them to be white white. Like the Xenonmatch fogs and the main beams. I avoided buying the LEDs because I heard they were problematic.

Looks like I'll have to keep looking for those.. Kinda sucks though.. $20 gone...

Pheatton, What lights did you get for the DRLs and how are they color wise? pics?

I got the PIAA Xtreme white 194 for the little lights above the fogs in that same housing. I have xenons so I don't have anything in the main beam area other than the projector and turn signal.

I get some pics of what I have installed if you all want.

194 and w5w are basically the same thing.

194 is 4w and w5w are 5w. They are the same bulb connector.

I've been away for a while. But I can give you all a longevity report on my LED projects.
I am on my second set of ebay 13 SMD LED eyelids within a year. The first set blew a row on the drivers side making it a 9 SMD. That triggers a bulbout. So the 13 SMD's need to be working flawlessly to avoid the bulbout on their own, 26's don't fit so save your money. They make error free T10s now but not in 13SMD and heat eventually wipes the actual LED's out (so you end up with a bulb actually out and no warning!) For bulbs that are on continuously, be prepared to replace them yearly or go incandescent. This same eyelid LED mod on the 2010 JCW clubman doesn't work as nice as on the cooper. That car is very temperamental compared to the JCW cooper and it throws bulbouts with everything working. The bulbs move in the holder and go out all the time (never happens in the cooper). I went back to incandescent until I go HID retro then I'll do the silicon trick and the resistor trick. It took 4 tries to get plate LED's to work without a bulbout on the clubman. On the cooper the same plate LED's are working flawlessly after a year. It is easy to get a festoon style to work, tough to find a T10 so far for me at least. UPDATE Uncle! On the CLubman. Both plate lights out now, no bulbout. Bang on them and they come on and flicker off, all while there is no bulbout warning. The socket appears to be overheating too. I replaced them today with std 9 SMD T10, Way brighter, better color, no banging, reliable, Bulbout! I have been saving some resistors for this kind of project, time to use them I guess.

My turn signals still work on the cooper but I never could stop the bulbout. I put in incandescent turn-signals to go to the dealer for my service and that cleared all bulbouts. I would not recommend that mod even though visually it does everything I wanted (100% stealth, rapid rise and fall in brightness, a deeper amber color and they are brighter than stealth bulbs). My next mod is to go back to incandescent yellow bulb with a blue coating to go after that high end Range Rover look. Should look awesome on HZB.

I have LED back up lights now. Using ebay special bulbs at about $7.00 a set. This mod is a keeper. Looks cool and is very functional too. It's an 1156 bulb.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-x-C...Q5fAccessories

You have to use a 6 ohm 50 watt resistor on each side or the computer will not even send power to the lights. They are much brighter than the stock bulbs, have 68 elements and no bulbout. Because of intermittent usage they are going to last a long time.

All interior LEDs are working the same as when I installed them over a year ago. All bulbs on each project are listed somewhere in this thread or other recent LED threads. Anyone have pics of the Hoen xenon match eyelids in action? Would like to see the brightness and coloring. . . . I see below example looks really blue. Before I started all this I had some incandescent bulbs nearly that color and almost got a ticket.

Some pics would be great of the PIAA DRL's installed and running. I really want to change the DRLs to a Xenon matching white.

Also, Has anyone bought a set of Nokya H8 Hyper Yellows? I was just thinking about it and the Hoen Xenon match are useless in the winter so I am going to keep the W5W city lights (I think) and pair them with some Yellow Fogs in the winter and then Switch back to Xenon Match whites for the rest of the year.

Thanks Pheatton,
dare I say though that the PIAA bulbs look Really blue and the Noyka's are actually more white than I would have thought... hmm interesting...

Going to try and return the Hoen City lights and maybe opt for a set of the Endurance yellows.

this is starting to become a very expensive project

Photo white balance is probably messing with the nokya yellows. They would never look that white.

Yeah they look very white in person and a bright yellow in person for the fogs. My phone my have a great camera in it but night shots suck on it.

Thanks.
Today was finally above freezing so I installed these Hoen city lights. I'm not thrilled with the results. They basically look just like the stock city lights. Compared to the factory HID headlights, they look yellow.
I asked Hoen to refund my money on these and I am contemplating just getting the LED city lights. $40 is pretty steep though...
This is a bummer.

PIAA makes a very white and very yellow 194 bulb that can be used instead of an LED.
