Does anyone have any experience with this item on an 06 Mini Cooper S?

How about just the halo ring??? Just mod the existing set with that would be nice to find.

Thank you. I have read on other posts that others like these are not very bright and I do live in Alaska where we have a lot of darkness so I want to be sure before ordering them. I did see them on a Mini here a couple of days ago but it was parked at Lowe`s so it was hard to tell and the owner was inside somewhere.

Scoopie's New Eyes

Here she is w/her new eyes installed. The halos aren't very bright, tho (not like the BMWs), and that's a little bummer, but they're there. I love the look of them, and it's really weird seeing that horizontal break on the back of other cars at night!

Thank you.

You can get the real deal for $500 or so. If you're considering spending $250, why not throw a couple hundred more at the project and get real oem xenons? They look way better and you'll be able to see better

Violet...They look great but I am concerned about the amount of light for here in Alaska. Burley, tell me more about the xenons. I don`t mind paying more if they give off better light and also look good. I am new to this world of lighting so I appreciate suggestions. Do they look like the halos?

The halos are knock offs of the xenons which came on stock on MINIS 2005-6. You need to buy them used most likely (ebay or NAM Marketplace). I think you can get them new from one of NAM's venders.

05-06 xenons from ebay

Although it's generally understood that it's not a good idea with the stock halogen headlights, I'm wondering if installing a generic HID kit to these knock-off halo units would work well-?

Understood, Hardestyal. Your situation is totally different from mine here in MD! Keep us posted on what u decide!

Thanks, Burley--I didn't have $500+ to spend and figured these were a good deal for the look I wanted. Of course, I looked here first and didn't fine any, so the eBay deal worked.

I have an H13 BiXenon kit in my 09 JCW. The cut off is surprisingly sharp. There is very little extra light over the cut off. The hot spots are no worse than when halogen bulbs were in there. ALso the factory projectors have hotspots on these mini's and there is no prizm effect. They are simply not up to Honda S-2000 quality level. So with that in mind the factory projectors are not 3+ times better than a HID kit in the generation 2 platform IMO.

I have 55w ballasts and 6000K bulbs (results in ~5000K) and am working around the bulbout warning by using resistors. There are kits that do not use relays that get around the bulbout warning but I hear of different results on different cars. As far as light output goes I my kit is brighter than a MB S600 by a long shot so use that for comparison.

Violet DC are you using halogen bulbs in those projectors or HID? Looks good.

Well, the lights came w/H1 bulbs already installed. Is that halogen?
