What does Fuse #27 Power?
Hey Everyone -
I'm having some "key-off" power drain issues and have traced it to Fuse 27... My battery drains after less than 1 week of sitting and I know the charging system is good and the battery is new. When I pull Fuse 27 with the key off, my power consumption goes from 176 ma to about 30 ma. I thought this fuse was for the radio, but after I pulled the fuse, the radio still worked???? Does anyone know exactly what this fuse protects?
Thanks....

F27 does refer to the "power" portion of the stereo system, to include the stereo, any amps, cd changer, etc. Stereos work on two circuits, accessory power and direct battery power. Accessory power is when the items power up to play music, which is operated by the stereo on/off button. The direct battery power is usually for any memory items (i.e. station presets), as well as being able to eject or insert a CD in the deck. It also works the CD changer eject option for the cartridge.
If you have an aftermarket amp, see if it's powered on when you turn your MINI off. If it is, you may have an issue with it or with the remote power lead.

So then F27 would be the accessory power or the direct power? Guessing its the accessory power. My wife has the Mini at work so I can't try it out right now. Will have to see what's not working when she returns. Not sure of we have an after market amp or not. Don't think so. Thanks for all the info.

F27 is direct, unswitched power. The radio is also connected to F10 which goes through the ignition switch.
F27 also supplies power to the CD Changer (if you have one) and the Harman Kardon amplifier (if your car has the HK upgrade). Looking at the wiring diagrams, I'm surprised that you can still turn on the radio after pulling fuse F27.
