Electrical 12V Switched/Ignition source in Boot Area
ElectricalFor discussions regarding wiring up electrical modifications such as radar detectors, brake light mods, power sockets, and driving lights in Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
As the title says, can anyone tell me if their is a 12v switched/ignition source in the boot area at all? I don't really want to have to run one from the front if I can help it. Thanks in advance
What year and model? There should be one, except for a period I believe in 2003 when MINI's were built without it. If you have an owner's manual it should be described there, including a drawing of where it is.
You could use a relay, using the antenna power (comes on if the radio is turned on with no key, but will be on any time when the key is in the ignition) to give the signal and 12v from your battery as the power. this would make it an switched/ignition wire. Just an alternative if you (like me) don't have a power outlet in the boot.
