04S oem battery type

What type of battery in 04S oem? Deep Cycle, Sealed, Gel or Maintenance Free? I have a switch on my new charger that needs to be selected if the battery is a "Maintenance Free" rather than "Deep Cycle" or "Sealed".

I would say it is a "maintenance free" because there is a vent tube attached. The "deep cycle" would be a Marine battery requiring multiple recharges.

Just because it may be a maintenance-free battery (which it isnt) doesnt mean that it will or will not have a vent. All batteries that are lead acid/Ni-Cad have a vent. The only one that doesnt are Optimas (sealed). They are wire wound. As I recall....our batteries have a pop-top or screw-in tops to add electrolyte.

And whats funny is "Sealed" refers to a maintenance-free battery in the aviation community (but still have vent tubes). But find out what you need to set the switch to first before charging. You could damage the battery and possibly overheat it and make it rupture....which isnt good.

Well...I ran the charger on the Deep Cyle setting & ran it up to 12.96 volts on my digital voltmeter. One thing I noticed is the "green light" on the battery did not illuminate. Strange. But it is showing 12.96 volts. Will hook it up this morning and hopefully not trigger the oem alarm again.

There is no "light" on the battery. It's just a float ball thing.

Once the battery's charged shake it a tiny bit, sometimes the float needs a nudge.
