Can someone provide detail on how to wire them with the high beams?
I purchased a 2007 R56 not too long ago that came with existing aux lights that were (gasp!) spliced directly to the fog light beams.

After a few days I realized the DL and FOG beams are for separate purposes so I ended up cutting the pos and neg wires that were spliced into the Fog light beams.

Where can I rewire these two wires such that they will come on when the high beams are used?

Giggles, I'm sure your husband is handy enough to put these on. Its a really simple kit. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Now if he doesn't have the time, just go to stereo/alarm place and they will wire it up in about 30 minutes.

ncorpus I will ask for the schematic for the high beam. Hopefully I can get it for you. I just remember the installer at my dad's shop wire them to the high beams so quickly it was crazy.

Just so you guys know my kit has held up nicely. The lights are still in great shape as when new.

Thanks so much for the assurance. He is aATM tech and can probably handle it, but he says he needs to get more wire and a ground....huh?

The 6 3/4" lights use a 55w h-3 bulb. I'm not sure what the 5 1/2" lights use.

Everybody, here a message from the Netherlands. I can see that madautoparts both has a chrome and a stainless steel variant. I think the chrome one would look nicer on my Cooper S (R56, nov. 2007), but I'm afraid they will suffer more from corrosion. Does anyone have some experience with these? Thanx!

I went with the stainless for exactly that reason. I've had chrome plated lights on other cars and they always started to rust a little after several years. The polished stainless is pretty close to chrome in appearance. It does start to dull a little after about 6mos but you can easily restore the shine just by wiping them down with a little white vinegar or polishing them with metal polish

Thanks for the reply, ammodave! The RVS ones look great on your MINI (if your gallery is up to date ;-)). I was thinking of buying this kit: http://www.madautoparts.com/apps/web...s/show/2682234. But I see that you created your own brackets? That's cool, since you don't have to modify your grille. Was it a lot of work, or do you have some kind of Do It Yourself?

My gallery is up to date. The brackets weren't too hard to make if you're handy and have a good vice to hold the steel strapping while you bend it to match the curvature of the backside of the grill. Took me about 1hr for each bracket and then I had to paint them. The kit you referenced seem pretty reasonable if the brackets are included. I only made my brackets because no reasonably priced brackets were available at the time. I wouldn't worry about modding your grill if it's required to install the brackets. Replacement grills are available and modestly priced. Good luck.

I don't know if the oem covers fit or not. The Wipacs are advertised as 5" in diameter. Mine measure 4.98". Measure somebody's oem MINI lights and find out.

My understanding is the OEM R56/5/7/etc covers WILL NOT WORK.

BUT OEM R50/2/3/etc covers WILL WORK.
- Dealer lamps stamped JUTE
- WIPAC 5" Chrome or Stainless Steel Spot lamps, Part #s S6055 and S6066
- MAXTEL 5" Spot lamps in Chrome, Black or Stainless Steel

All the aftermarket light kits I've been looking at all have odd looking switches.

Has anyone used the factory switch?

Shoot me your email, i can send you a wiring diagram super easy to follow to make this work safely and make them brighter than just tapping the highs.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm thinking of getting the Wipac on my car. Looking for a cheaper alternative also. I was going to buy the MINI lights used on here, but I can get the whole kit cheaper.

Is the Wipac Bracket made well that is in the Kit? Also, what covers work with the lights? I really was hoping the WHITE OEM covers would work.

Anyone document the installation of these?

I have the black ones from madautoparts, but have yet to install them because wiring anything freaks me out a bit. haha. Modding the grill also doesn't seem fun.

Has anyone made a video or taken photos along the way of their installation?

I'l putting mine on a 2011 S.

Not I, but thank you for bringing this thread back to life. Been looking for an inexpensive version of these for months now. I see madautoparts has a black set now for the R53. That's awesome. Can't wait to get these.
