Kenwood DNX9990HD Double-Din installation

This Double-Din installation in a 2nd gen MCS Clubman is analogous to that described in previous posts in the NAM forum, with the following exceptions. The metal frame of the OE Alpine stereo (which could not be removed in my hands) was trimmed so that it slide into the upper storage compartment; the plastic facia was removed. Note: the thickness of the OE stereo, in my installation was too large to fit behind the speedometer, as described in other threads. The OE stereo circuit board attached to the power button was daisy chained to the speedometer with three 40-pin FFC, 0.5 mm pitch (3 feet) from digi-key (WM14118-ND) and two PCB extenders (digi-key: 1528-4523-ND) diy-beamer.com (not affiliated with BMW). The CAN bus and fiber optics were thus retained. All wires, except the speaker wires were extended so they reached the back of the upper storage compartment; the optics cables were already long enough.

Car: 2010 MCS Clubman
Stereo: Kenwood DNX9990HD
Accessories: Axxess ASWC, Bluetooth phone/audio, Navteq GPS maps, reverse camera (electronics not yet connected), IPOD, Axxess BMRC-01 chime (which sounds very close to OEM chime bell).

I am pleased with the speed and functionality of this touch screen Kenwood headunit, which replaces my Parrot MKi9200, which served me well for just under 3 years. Navigation is 8 out of 10, IPOD functionality 9/10 et al functions are 7/10 or above...I agree with all of the positive online reviews.

The attached picture is blurry, but the outcome is analogous to other 2nd Gen MINI Double-Din installs.

Just installed a Sony double DIN unit with same harnesses you used. Did you have any issues with your radio picking up the reverse signal from the BRMC01 or did you connect the reverse wire separately. Thanks.

I have an aftermarket reverse camera that is triggered on by the reserve light circuit. The camera wires attach directly to my Kenwood headunit. The reverse wire (Green/Purple) on the BRMC-01 was not used.

Other BRMC-01 wires NOT used: Orange/White wire; Blue/Pink wire.
