Electrical R56 - A/C Compressor Relay
#52
In my case, A/C wasn't working. After sometime searching, I realized that somebody previously has changed the first and the second fan rellay positions. That made car computer to keep air conditioning out of service...

Glad you found the cause of the problem! Awesome!

Changed relay positions?
Do you mean someone swapped the relays with each other or another relay? I was checking some other issues and may have swapped those two relays. Will that keep the AC from coming on? I am not getting power to my AC clutch but it works if powered directly.

A/C Compressor Relay
Working on 2010 R57 JCW, after taking dash apart to install new radio head, no A/C. Panel lights up, no output to compressor. Checked all fuses, have not heard relay click.
Checked white lead out of fuse box, no current. Applied 12V compressor engages.
Does anybody know which wire it is that trips the relay out of back of A/C control? This car has the automatic A/C
Trying to determine whether it is bad control or relay, or maybe i dislodged a wire.
Thanks for any possible help

dave, already tested that. The low side had excessive pressure - which is what lead me to the compressor. Since clutch is not engaging I can't get an accurate reading on coolant level. It was working great - and just quit. So hopefully its just wiring issue.
Anyone have a simple schematic of the R56 A/C system?
Edit: Thought I found something on BMW-Planet - but guess what - the pages I was looking for had bad links -bummer.

I also need help with knowing where the electrical wiring harness of the mini goes!! For the ac compressor it might’ve disconnected because the ac isn’t blowing cold air it’s not the first time it’s happened I did take it to the shop last year and they had told me it was an electrical issue which I assume was the wire of compressor and some other wires that were damaged. I do see a red and green wire from the compressor and the other two I see hanging are brown and white. I want to connect the four cables, but I'm not sure which color corresponds to which connection.
