Anyone look at the Alpine Halo9 iLX-F309

Seems to be the ultimate stereo upgrade option.
  • looks good (not like some Japanese robot part)
  • Full CarPlay and Android auto control
  • Single DIN
  • Provides interface to automatic vehicle functions*

*This is my big curiosity, how far does this go? Window control? Top control? Heated seats? Auto climate?

It seems to use a system called idatalink, does anyone know if Gen 1s are compatible? If so, to what extent?

Check here http://www.idatalink.com for compatibility. Looks like a cool system. Lots of folks will tell you the screen is too big for your car, however wouldn't bother me at all if it does what you want it to.

It lists firmware only for 2007+ MINI. So, not supported for 1st gen.

I searched the radio on Crutchfield and it says it isn't compatible with a Gen 1. Can't guarantee it, but there you go.

It would probably fit into a 1st gen but you would need the Metra adapter to retain steering wheel controls
