Electrical Alarm Systems

yup...a year and half ago I installed a $35 audiovox alarm that uses voltage drop to set it off....if a door is opened and light comes on it sets it off....also has adjustible vibration/shock sensor...no motion sensor but hey, it was only $35 and I was able to easily install it myself....the only problem I see with it is it means an extra FOB on my key ring, but it is much smaller than our LARGE key
note: on other threads elsewhere it has been mentioned, and verified, that holding the key up to one's chin will extend the range of the remote.....that works, and it also works with my alarm FOB, as it more that triples the range

if you live in a honkey dory area its great, if you live where no one steals the whole car ever just crap out of, electronics, parts, lights, fenders, wheels, etc, an alarm is pretty useful sometimes. The 35 dollar ones sounds interesting as anythign else will just be ripped out quickly and brutally.

You can't put auto start on a manual transmission.
Only on Automatics.
A $35 alarm is much easier to rip out than the factory alarm as it is integrated into the chassis computer and engine computer.
And remember with out the properly chiped key, you can't start a MINI, so the only way to steal one is to have a tow truck.
