Electrical Factory foglights without the lights..

Factory foglights without the lights..
I actually started this post in the MiniTalk forum, but I think the rest of it belongs in here.
My 03 has a factory installed foglight toggle in the switch bar. The icon is there - the whole bit. But the car does not have foglights. There are molded plastic "fillers" (for lack of a better term) in the holes.
I am interested in installing either fog or driving lights, and since I have the toggle already in place, I would like to use it.
I would assume that the toggle is wired (but you can never be sure I guess) How to I determine to what extent the factory wiring remains?
Since it would have been factory fogs, I guess there should be wiring still down there somewhere? Where would I look for it to run down from under the hood?
Is there a relay or fuse I could look for?
Finally, if I decide to go driving vs fogs, and assuming I find the factory wiring under the hodd, is there any reason
that I couldn't use that wiring for driving lights?
Many thanks!

Yours is an unusual case. If you have only the fillers where the fog lights go, my guess is that the car never had fogs and a previous owner replaced the toggle panel with a full set just for cosmetics. Normally if front fogs were not ordered from the factory, there is no wiring. I retrofitted front fogs in my car and it is fairly difficult to add the wiring. Do you have all 6 toggles (there are separate front and rear fog toggles)? In '03 MINIUSA did not offer rear fogs and this would be evidence that the toggle panel was switched in your car for cosmetic reasons.

I only have 4 toggles - the 2 windows, the master lock, and the fog. In another post I read today of someone who had ordered driving lights, then cancelled them mid-build. The car arrived without the lights but with the switch in the panel. Maybe mine is a similar case?
Anyway of finding out factory options through the VIN?

You could look in the fuse box in the engine compartment for fuse F10 and relay R6. See this document (http://www.motoringfile.com/howto/Fog%20Lights.PDF) on page 10, diagram R50 0044 Z. The fuse box is near the left (drivers side) strut tower. In a non-S Cooper, it is next to the battery.
You could ask a MINI dealer service department to look up the VIN and see what information they could pull up. Also try calling 1-866-ASK-MINI with your VIN and they might have access to the original order.

Hate to go backwards in a forum, but I need to re-visit this post.
For many reasons, I turned away from this idea for a long while, but have now decided to go back to it.
I checked my fuse box as rkw suggested and I DO have fuse F10 and relay R6 installed. In fact the legend shows the foglight symbol for fuse F10.
So I have the switch, the relay and the fuse. I now also have a set of aftermarket foglights on their way. But I still have one issue...
Anyone have any idea where ?I moght find the foglight wiring up front? Since everything is in place up to the fuse box, I assume the wiring must be there as well. But looking down in from the top, I only see one cluster of wires coming into this area, 2 sets for the running light/turn signal and a set for the horn. There does appear to be another pair that runs down, but I do not yet see where they go and I do not want to tug on them too hard.
Can someone with OEM fogs drop a line here and tell me where their fog wiring routes from?
Many thanks!
