Question Chugging in Reverse

My ‘19 MCS (F57) has 34k miles and has been serviced as prescribed since new by the dealer. When it if first started and I back out of the garage, it chugs for 3-5 seconds. Then I shift into drive and all is ok. It also seems reversing when the engine is warm and/ or for longer distances, it is fine. I also think I feel some chugging when accelerating gently but the symptom isn’t as severe. Has anyone else had this problem?
thanks.

Same issue with my JCW. Only when cold.

Same Issue here. I took it to the dealer and they said I wasn't letting the car warm up enough. No problems once the car gets a little warm but didn't have these issues on anything else I drive.

I have a 2015 F56, B38 3 cylinder. Mine does it randomly when first started in the morning. Seems more frequent when colder than 32 F. Had it scanned by the dealer during the early miles. They found nothing. Car now has 129000. I have given up on some of these unexplainable quirks. However, letting it idle for about 30 seconds before driving does seem to prevent this phenomenon.
It has never left me stranded but still unacceptable to me for a modern car.

You need to let it warm up a little. Mine did this a few times when I first got it. Then I simply let it idle for a minute or 2, back out the garage enough to get the exhaust outside the garage and let it finish warming up prior to driving off.

You should let these cars idle for several minutes minimum before putting the engine under load.

My 2 cents.
