Here are some more pictures and a "how to" in attaching it.

take a good look at where the notches are - it a one way fit only !!

first insert one end by sliding it in under a slight angel

put slight pressure on the curved top until it follows the round shape of the key itself.
The first fit needs more pressure at the side to make it a wedged fit between the notches of the key itself.

Put very little pressure on side at the end that is still open, but ALSO slightly slide it downwards into the key.
The curved end need to move freely to make this happen.
Wiggle the small tab ,
still outside the key you see in the photo above , slowly in !!
This small tab at the end should slide inside the key first , before the rest is flat whit the key itself !!!

This is why a non ridged material is preferable.
( I am very interested in the aluminum some of you have ordered, not sure if this will have sufficient flexibility )
After this its very much stuck in place, removing can be done only in the reversing order of attaching it.

good luck , and looking forward to pictures in the different colors

J.

The discount code basically made the product FREE + 1/2 off the shipping cost.

I ordered one anyway. Sorry if I cost you money on my purchase. Lol.

Thanks again for the ordering, 88 by now !
but please be advised !! the polished plastic aluminum material type has not been tested !!
Its possible there will be some bumps or holes on the circular top part of key fob.
Not sure how shapeways reacts to these imperfections.
The plastic one's have these very small bumps also but i am sure it will print.

This is the fob after half a year of use.
the slight imperfections at the top take up more dirt and therefor become more visible.

Because there is that much interest in the fob i will make a revision with slightly thicker walls. That will increase the price by about perhaps 3 dollar because there is more material in the fob.
Big extra however is that its also available in polished metals.
Will do my best to finish this revesion this weekend.
Perhaps some of the mini owners are willing to test it ?

I think you could've charged quite a bit more than this and people would still jump at the chance. I don't think $15-$20 is an unreasonable price for the product.

Got mine in black. I can't wait for this to show up; I'm tired of the key ruining the line of my pants.

lets say it's an early adopter advantage.

In between work have made a revision nmr 2 and managed to only increase the amount a printed product by not more than 15%.
Wall-thickens is now everywhere minimal 1.0mm
The overall thickness increased by 0.6mm, what should give it a more sturdy look. Hollowed out the inner part to keep the size and price small.

Should now also be possible to be printed in metal, and the mounting is similar as the original by removing the back part of the key.

made it available in the Shapeway Shop just now ;

http://shpws.me/M1Wc

BE AWARE - my own Shapeway test-order will not be here before 18 April,
until the 18th no confirmation if its a perfect fit !
