Not sure how Shapeways handles these orders, i have no influence on the production and delivery.
Perhaps it has something to do with where you are at , or what type material?
I ordered mine on the 5the, and delivery was expected the 18te , but just got an email it has been ship already with delivery tomorrow.
Thanks so much! I just checked and the status is "in production." Will be patient as it is set to be shipped later this week! Excited! Thanks for your hard work Devries! A lot of us here are very happy campers thanks to you.
just received my revision 2.
Its the "polished metallic plastic version".
Expected this material it to be a little more dense, but its not. Its quit brittle.
The fitting is definitely better / easier than rev 1, just like in the owner manual of mini.
polished metalic
.. so the fitting is perfect, but there is a remark.....
after you click in the back of the key containing the "mini" logo its really hard to get that same backplate out again.
My guess is that if you have rev 2 in flexible plastic you are ok, its more flexibel in getting out. In metal be careful removing the original back plate.
I took out a bit of the material at the place where the tabs of the backplate are.
Its now as deep as the longer strips.
After that is ok.
in rev 2 make the top indents a little deeper to allow the backplate containing mini easier removable
Have replaced revision 2 for rev 3 at Shapeways
I'm doing one last try in Polished nickel, after that its over and out.
Its becoming to much revers engineering.
If Mini is listening in : "Perhaps you could make these in large quantities and give it as an option if you buy a new car"
Just ordered mine, waiting for my F54 to arrive, I ordered one stainless steel and one yellow plastic!! $25 for both with shipping, such a great deal!!
Pics.
A installation tutorial with pics would be paramount here considering the
number of orders and neophytes involved.
Certainly don't want to break the OEM cover

See post #306 for installation instructions. The owners manual (page 34 in mine) has instructions for removing the back/battery cover. Once the cover is removed, the round/starship looking part slides off.
My two are scheduled to ship tomorrow. I'm looking forward to receiving them.
Could you post a picture of youre blue one for us to see....
Since last year i think there where some finer detailing 3D printers installed at Shapeways , but the coloring process or material seems to be different, my red one is deeper-red.
btw; anyone having access to a injection molder and could tell if this can be made in the same plastic as the oem ?
***** if i know. ordered day he announced it...got it today. i assume that means it's V1. looks fine to me. don't see an issue with it. had to wedge it in, but that just made it more secure for me.
Once the cover is removed, [U]the round/starship looking part slides off.
I would only add that it supposed to go back on only one way...if you get it wrong the front tabs break off rendering the "Space Ship" looking part useless.
Nice looking fobs, but how well will they fit in the key readers on the Service Advisors desks so the key can be read.

They aren't a problem. I have used the sugru on mine and the service guy just looked at me and laughed, and went about his business.

Since I believe they pull the actual key out of the fob, don't think it will be an issue - right?
